Hello I'm a newbie here.

Here's what I want to do.
I'm sure it should be possible - and that I'm overlooking something ??
Searched here, and the manual with no joy.
Hope somebody can help...

I want a Performance which is a "Layer" with 2 sounds going right across the keyboard.

One sound could be a Piano, the other an Organ.

I want piano only, if I play softly.
Organ too, if I play above 64 velocity.

It's normally known as "velocity switching" (or even better velocity crossfades).

I know I can do this in patch mode - but I want to do it in performance mode using any number of the lovely onboard sounds - and have different sounds being triggered depending on the velocity of the key played.

Being a "performance" keyboard I expected to find this easy to set up.. and so far it's the only thing I've wanted to to, that I can't fathom !!

Welcome.

You can do this both in Patch and Performance mode, but "within" the patch. Which is, creating a patch using 4 waves and with velocity switching.

Another solution, that may be what you are looking for, is here:

Performance Mode--> Part View--> Key Range--> Velo

The Performance Mode--> Part View--> Key Range--> Velo control seems to be a velocity sensitivity offset - so that won't do it.
I know that I can do it in the patches (I've owned an XV2020 for a while) - but I want to velocity switch / crossfade patches, within a performance.

Is it possible ??

yes, that is not velocity switching but it sounds close to that.

There is no other solution, as far as I know.

I am not aware of velocity switching in performance mode. You only have keyboard range set up. If you want velocity switching, you may use patch mode to create your own patch.
Pick a piano patch of your choice and reprogram its velocity response level to below 64. Pick an organ patch and reprogram velocity response to above 64 and layer them in performance mode.
Easiest way is to create a patch with two different sounds responding to two different velocity range.

I know this is an old post but I am new to the Fantom and was surprised to find no velocity switching as part of Performance mode (as the Korg Triton etc does). Would be on my wish list for an update!
