Fantom-Xa: more details

Post by Artemiy »

Today Roland officially introduced the new member in the Fantom line - Fantom-Xa - http://www.roland.com/products/en/Fantom-Xa/index.html and I am here to give you some interesting info about it.

Fantom-Xa includes 64 Mb wave ROM that is identical to that of the Fantom-S series. Polyphony is 128 voices, and up to 512 Mb DIMMs may be installed - like on the X series. It includes all Fantom-S patches, as well as 128 all-new patches and some new rhythm kits.

The more exciting thing is that I have been involved in demo composition for this new Fantom-Xa, and you will also find preset samples on this one created by me. Soon the demo (named Auto Mate) will be available on Roland's sites, and more info on my work will be published at Artemio.net.

;-)

Thanks for your kind words, guys! ;-)

Septimo: I'm not sure, but I will try to acquire those patches. I guess that when someone purchases a Xa, they will be available here anyway.

No idea. I'd expect it to be available in no less than 3-3.5 months, like with all of the FS and FX series.

As a Fantom S owner, my reaction to the Xa is unprintable. I am more and more convinced that I will never buy another brand new Roland product as I will not trust that it is not just a pre-production marketing exercise. And to be honest I don't really care whether Roland takes any notice or not.

As a Fantom-S owner I have no reaction other than cool, 128 more free patches. I still love my F-S and though this won't help the resale value it really does not matter to me because I don't plan on selling mine anytime soon and the Fantom-X has already killed the resale value anyway.

Hey Artemio, so the A stands for Artemio? ;)

Glad to see that Roland keeps the Fantom line alive and this site will continue to grow and get better because of this.

Thanks for the new details.
I'm no longer interested in buying one knowing it only has the F-S ROM data. Seems like I'll keep my XR after all.

Still a great competitor to the Triton LE though.

Congratulations Artemio for your involvment in that product, you deserve it.

At last, I'm part of the gang !

This is nice to hear Artemio, I'm happy for you.

But I'm still miffed at Roland's decisions (not sure what to think).
