How do I assign a sample to the drum pad?

Post by Synthister Nation »

I know this has probably been asked time and time again, but I can't seem to find it using the search. Can someone link me to a thread with a How-to, or can someone explain? Thanks!

Hi,

Look at lordelix's first reply on this thread.

Ignore the stuff about loop points.

Hope this helps

Yes, that totally helped. Thanks so much. One question though. I got a sample that I need to trigger twice during a song. When I press the pad the sample goes off as soon as I take my finger off the pad. I use the hold button so that it plays the entire sample, but then once I go to re-trigger it I have to press the pad twice, once to turn off the hold from the first time I used the sample, then again to re-trigger it. How would I go about having the sample play from start to finish without using the hold button? Any other method would be greatly appreciated too.

Although it sounds complicated, the best way to do what you want (assuming the sample is too long to play with a simple envelope) is to create a Pattern that ONLY triggers your sample. Make the Pattern long enough to cover playback of the entire sample.

Then you need to assign that Pattern to either a Pad or a key using RPS.

Check out the manual, p.203 (ignore the warnings about only using Note data).

Shout if you get stuck.

Cheers
