Fantom to PC

Post by menappi »

I have a Fantom S and as much as I love it I'd much rather play on the fantom and arrange everything on the computer. I want to to keep the Fantom sounds but be able to sequence using Fruity Loops but I am not sure how to go about this. I wanna be able to use the Fantom as a midi controller PLUS use the internal sounds...Can anyone help? Currently I have no audio interface but I will soon..So do I need to connect the fantom to my pc/sound card by both Audio outs AND Midi??? Help is appreciated, thanks!

You will need an audio/MIDI interface and yes you'll need to connect both audio and MIDI cables if you want to sequence on your computer and listen to or record audio from the Fantom as well.

USB can't handle both those??? how would I go about setting it up at least..to use it as a midi controller and/or using my DAW to control the sounds?

Fantom-S only supports data over USB, not MIDI or audio. As for setting it up, it depends on your DAW software, usually you just set the audio and MIDI inputs/outputs in it's preferences screen.

How do i put the Fantom into 'usb' mode? I go menu>USB and choose either the internal memory or a card and it loads on my computer as a drive but in my DAW when i go to the options it shows no midi inputs..google shows nothing so maybe drivers aren't installed? Rolands website has nothing on it tho...
