The effects confuse me!!

Post by Songbird2 »

I want to know if I can use three different effects plus chorus and reverb on different parts
example: Delay on part 1 only, chorus on part, 2 etc.
The effects routing screen confuses me.

Is there an expert out there?

Yes you can no problem...

Just go into performance mode and Route part 1 to MFX 1, part 2 to MFX 2, etc (the upper leftmost number is the part number) Reverb and chorus can be routed before and after the MFX (those are send numbers after the MFX and the number going into CHO and REV Blocks. I found that the editor software included with the FS really help to explain the routing.

Whaddaya mean you don't know what key it's in??

Thank you FadeKYBRDR
I understand clearly now. How now it makes me think that If I want to apply effects to every track and there are only 3 mfx , 1 rev and 1 ch I have to choose effects that will relate to each track. Or is it that I can apply the whole rack to part one and a differnt rack for part 2 etc. And what about the rhythm sets? If Iwant an effect on the snare only or the kick or tom? Whats the best way to acheive that?

No, there are 5 units for all 16 parts. If you want to have individual sends for each drum sound, read the Effects FAQ - http://fantomized.info/faq

I see you also use Sonar 3, do you integrate the two often?
If so how does it handle?

I've been using Sonar for a couple of years (2XL then 3), and CW Pro Audio before that but I'm a newbie on Keyboards so any advice you have would be cool.

Sonar 3 and the Fantom S

Post by Songbird2 »

I do most of my sequencing on the FS save it as SMF and open it in Sonar for further editing and expansion. I have my FS ins definition files so its easy to pull up my patches in Sonar. I also record audio like vocals etc. My final editor is Sound Forge 7. I use this to tweak my samples and also to finalise my production before burning.
I am having problems though with my librarian and editor software it keeps freezing up. But I am enjoying my FS especially now that I have more patches than I can handle!
