I quickly writes some lines to you to say to you that I bought my new Fantom-x7 one week ago to replace my Fantom FA-76.
my first opinion (just mine) is that the sound of the piano is good but they made in little excess with this sound.
it is good but not fantastic.

The acoustic drums sound are very bad but i don't care because i have a srx01 and srx03.

the el. piano are very very good.
the bass and ac.guitar are very good.
the other sound are good in general.

but I stop here about the sounds because it is too subjective and that depends of each person.

I have the same problem (if it is a problem) that other persons on this site about the display.
the first both day, when I started the fantom-x, the display was immediately luminous but since, when I start it, the display is dark during approximately a minute.
The fantom-x is in the same environment since the first day.

there is a note which says that is not a malfunction. I am sure that it is a real probème. (on the first series maybe) and that they put this note to not to replace the displays.
but ...can be not.

before having the fantom-x, I thought that the color screen was a gadjet. now, I think that it is not a gadjet. It is very much clearer and very less tiring when you works during a lot of hours on the keyboard.(the music is my job)

they removed some functions compared to Fantom F-76.it is a pity but it is necessary to make with.

Initially, I am happy with my purchase.
I would see better with the use I hope that this "problem display" is normal and I hope that it is not a breakdown which will worsen.

Congrats for your purchase! Despite that you may find some features lacking in X7 - even I miss some features of XP80 in my FS - the new Fantom-S/X series are amazing boards. You'll be falling in love with your X7 more and more day by day.

Well, I guess that the FX still presents some "MINOR" bugs that will be fixed (unless for some reason you could see a next Fantom next year).
I guest that the X has improved the sampler capabilities, without talking about polyphony that, for the time, I guess that is very acceptable.

Explore this keyboard the more you can. You really gonna have fun with it!

as far as the piano I don't think your understaning rolands idea behind it. I think in the past, pianos have been sampled through a line in type of sample. thats why you would get that depth and thickness in sound. what I realize with these new pianos is that they mic'ed it to try and simulate the acoustics of not only the piano, but also the room it was in to get that natural resonance it has. that's the sound they were after. and when you listen to it with that in mind, and remember that previous pianos were not done this way, you will indeed see & hear that they are truly fantastic.

play your UltimatGrand again for a while and keep that in mind. It will open up! and gain deeper depth! AMAZING is more the word I would use.

when I first got mine, I felt the same way, I thoght 'Damn it, it don't sound the same in thickness as my "So True..." then I played it more and more and payed more attention to the sound and thought, 'OH, I dig what they were doing!' now when i go back to "So True..." I feel like I'm playin my first Casio back in the 80's(I'm exagerating, but you get the Idea)
I was so use to the sound of inline sampling, that mic'd sampled waves sounded wierd to me. you notice you thought the electric piano sounded good, those are inline samples you are use to. so of coarse you think that, I thought the same in the beginning, but not anymore..

so my freind I understand your gripe, but I also see that it's a lack of understanding of what they meant. the more you play it, the more you will come to understand. and you will use your previous pianos less.
