changing a patch or ryhthm set for each track in a song?????
how do i do this...everytime i change a rhythm set for a track in a song it changes all the tracks in the song to the rhythm set i pick (ex. track 1 is rhythm set A, track 2 i want rhythm set B, but when i choose rhythm set B for track 2, track 1 also goes to rhythm set B).....hope you understand my question....incog

Do you have Fantom connected to something with MIDI?

Re: changing a patch or ryhthm set for each track in a song?
because the tracks are all using the same MIDI channel?
There is no relationship between a track in a sequence and a part in a performance.
The relationship is actually the MIDI channel.
i.e. the Track contains events for a MIDI Channel
And a part in the performance is set to respond to a MIDI channel
So if you picked say part 10 with a rhythm set in it.
Then recorded the kick on track 1, the snare on track 2, etc
ALL those tracks would contain events for MIDI channel 10.
Hence, subsequently changing part 1 cause you want a different kick sound has no effect on track 1 at all , or you will find that changing part 10 affects all the tracks.
Look with the microscope to see what MIDI channel has been recorded in each of your tracks. It is propably something to do with it

So, are you telling me they've fixed that annoying bit of nonsense from the XP boards? You can assign multiple drum kits to whatever channels you like? On the XP's the drums were hard wired to part ten. Only 1 rhythm set per song. if you wanted other drums than what were available on that set you had to create a user patch with the other drum samples in it and do it that way.

you can have rhythms on any track/channel

Yes, you can have all 16 parts in performance set to 16 different rhythm kits.
Also about the "annoying bit of nonsense"... On XP80, each drum kit could have up to 64 keys ecah with it's won sound and settings. For most works of mine, this was enough. But yes, sometimes I wanted to have more

Re: changing a patch or ryhthm set for each track in a song?
true. 64 keys were often enough; it was the selection of those 64 keys that bugs me. I am always having to load user kits into the board to get the combination of sounds I want. OK, not always, but it is truly going to be nice to have the new and improved system.

INCOGNEETO, what i do is go in to the pad settings and set the rhythm track (pads) to lets 10 (default in S), record your set or individual instrument. go back into pad settings and switch the pads to track 2 above that is will say patch, change that to rhythm and select the rhythm set you want to use. and it goes on and on. I do this so i don't have to go into the edit screens to have instrument drop in and out, I can instead use the mute and sole options in the mixer. I hope this is what you were asking about.

As far as I know, put it into Mixer or Split/Layer mode while you are recording. I have been switching between Mixer and Song edit to do my songs thus far. You can select any instrument or kit and mix them all into your song as you wish. Hope this helps

got it everyone...thanks for the info....much appreciated.thanks again......i basically go with my loop, and do the track mute thing....but this isn't a good idea, because i eventually wanna add a break in my song, and its hard to do with a, say, 4 bar loop, just muting differentr tracks...say i wanna add a break...whats the easiest way (i used to have an mpc and i just changed sequences...can't do this here!!!!) and sugestions????????
