anyone help with this??
i have developed a problem with my x7. during a live set the keyboard will suddenly sustain all the notes played as if the release hase been editied to maximum for no reason. it can be stopped by reselecting the same patch but when played again it does it again. i have returned it back to roland uk and they replaced the hold pedal socket , it worked ok for about 2 weeks but did it again tonight at a gig. this appears to be an intermittent fault as roland couldnt find a problem but replaced the hold pedal socket anyway. has this happened to anyone else here.???? and if so what was the problem caused by?????
i dont want to send it back without some kind of clue as to whats causing it.

Hi hotlurve,
I've only ever had this when myold sutain pedal was attached. Since changing that I've not been affected.
I'm afraid I can't offer any help, but I hope you get it sorted.

bad knobs?
I've had a problem with my realtime control knobs, pretty much since I bought the thing. They sometimes adjust themselves... i notice it most when on the mixer screen. The on-screen faders for the selected set of 4 parts will go up and down by themselves. If you happened to be on layer/split or patch mode, where the knobs control things like attack and release, you might see this same behavior. I know I do.
I don't have a fix... I suspect the knobs have to be replaced, but I haven't been ready to part with my Fantom or spend the dough. I have found that cranking the knobs all the way up (clockwise) stops them from 'freaking'.
Let us know how it works out?

ta for reply, i will look into that i havent checked the screen to see what it says havent had time.
99% of the time it happens im standing in front of the other 3 members of the band and a packed audience , looking like a total knob !!!
i will phone roland again tomorrow to see what they say. gonna be a problem though coz we got 3 gigs this week !!!!

Hold Pedal
Is there a switch to change the polarity of your sustain pedal, often located on the side or underneath the pedal itself? Maybe it was accidentally switched. Just a thought.

ok some news
i have found the problem, it appears that the realtime control knobs is the source, there is a bad connection here when i as much as rest my finger on the top of the release knob it goes from 0 to 100 max !!! a loose connection or bad pot it seems.
anyway i spoke to roland uk and belive it or not tbut they are lending me an ex dem x7 to use whilst my one is being repaired and delivering it to my house next day service !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fantastic customer service !!!! well done roland uk!!!!!!!!!

Re: major fault x7
Wow, that is great service! I have had 2 Fantom X6es. The first one arived with a problem with the fourth knob acting on its own. This seems to be a common problem. Something to do with the soldering I think. It seems to be a relatively easy fix though. Great to hear that they helped solve the problem...
Re: major fault x7
I had a similar problem with my Korg Triton.
The tempo knob is buggy and during a gig the tempo of the sequence/clicktrack suddenly jumped from 110 to 40
The drummer used his headphone for the click track ... you should have seen the look on his face ... kind of ... WTF !!!

Re: major fault x7
As much as these knobs are cool controls, they are not very robust (although they look and feel sturdy). I have had similar problems with other Roland keyboards.
When gigging, I don't let anyone near my X7 in case they touch the knobs.
Simple sliders would work for me.
