quick metronome question

Post by Moray »

Hi all

am using the forum as I'm not at my fantom and can't remember the answer to this myself!

If I change the time signature in a song to, say, 9/8 and then want to set the tempo equivalent to dotted crotchet (quarter note) = 92, does the fantom automatically take account of the new time signature, or do I have to convert it so that the basic unit of measurement is the eighth note (quaver)?

In other words, when you open the tempo screen it always suggests that you are measuring the tempo of a quarter note (crotchet) even if this particular beat is not native to your time signature (as in 6/8 or 9/8).

In real terms a dotted quarter note = 92 would convert to an eighth note = 276 (as there are 3 eighth notes in a dotted quarter note), but I can't remeber if the fantom thinks like this or not.....

Thanks!
