I answered a post the other day regarding how many user patches, rhythm kits etc you can store onto a memory card.
According to the manual its;
256 user patches
32 user rhythm kits
64 performances
Am I correct in thinking that even if you use a 1GB memory card you can still only save what I have listed above?
The file system on the Fantom doesn't allow loading/saving of individual samples, so you basically load all - save all which appears to take some time. So would it be better to buy loads of smaller cards, say 256mb cards, so that the loading times would be much faster?
Apart from not so much memory is there any other drawbacks buying smaller memory cards?
does anybody insert or remove their memory cards while the Fantom is switched on?
If so is there any problems doing this?
thanks.

Re: User patches to memory card
You can save additional data, but you need to rename the folders to select the new/old data sets.
The other advantage to the CF card is that it can store your sample data. I load all of my sample data at boot time, but I think you can choose to only load sample data when the patch is recalled.
It is important to backup your CF card data. I think it is wise to keep the backup CF card in a safe place. I would hate to go to a show only to find that somebody stole my CF card. I think there is a small metal bracket that sort of locks your CF card in place.
Your audio tracks data also gets saved to your CF card.
CF cards are dirt cheap. I paid $88US fo a 1GB and they are now less than $40US. WalMart's web site is listing a 512MB CF for $9.00US and a 1GB for $24.84US.

Re: User patches to memory card
Thanks for your comments Mark,
But do you think it would be better to have loads of smaller cards , 256mb for example, rather than 2 or 3 1GB cards?

What exactly do you mean by this, above? New old data sets? you mean 256 patch sets or what?
Thx

Re: User patches to memory card
Tolgay,
What I'm getting at is the fact that if you use a 1GB card or a 256MB card you can still only get 256 user patches, 64 performances and 32 rhythm kits on one card regardless of size. I appreciate that you can get more samples onto a 1GB card but as the Fantom will only load all the data from the card and it takes a while I thought it might be better to have indivdual songs on individual cards to save on loading times and I will then know which card to use for each song.
does this make sense to you?

Solitary man,
I completely agree with you.
And that's why I was asking the question to Markshovel about his comment of saving additional data, and the need for renaming the folders to select the new /old data sets. I am not clear what that means.
Mark any comments?
