Training Aids

Post by chrisfry »

Hi All. I have been surfing this site for about 2 months now, trying to take in all the info, which I find to be fantastic! But I promised myself I wouldn't register and post until I got my first workstation......which I did, the X8, 2 days ago (Wednesday).

Don't think I've slept since then (Work is definately a drag lately!), due the late nights going through all the handbooks. I must say although the books are good, sometimes I find it difficult to follow the steps displayed.

Apart from the guys (and precious few ladies) on this site, is there anywhere else that I could get some training aids (On-line training, beginner's and advanced courses)?

Learnt a lot already, and wanting to learn more....

Hi Chris,
If you goto Roland U.S, www.rolandus.com, and register with them it allows you to download user manuals and some really good pdf training guides.
Here is the link;
http://www.rolandus.com/products/produc ... jectId=581

there are 11 different traing guides for different sections of the Fantom X series synths plus turbo starts pdf etc.
Hope this helps.

Don't forget to have fun with your Fantom X8!

Learn a few things a day and make sure you remember those new features the next day. Instead of trying to know 90% of how the system works, get started with 5% and have fun.

Every day I ask myself a new question and learn the answer. The main point is to have a great musical instrument.

I got the Fantom S training video ($9US) and it showed me a great overview of the Fantom X8.

Set an agenda:
- get the compact flash interface functional
- copy a patch to the compact flash
- make a few changes to the patch
- make your own performance and save to CF
- keep going...

Hi I am in the same boat as you. I just got my X8 on Tuesday.
I have not really gotten into trying to learn anything yet. I also have to learn to play so that makes it even more difficult LOL.
I did download the manuals and all the guides mentioned above. Now to print them all out. I still prefer printed matter to scrolling through pages on the computer.

Well I wish us both lots of luck in the endeavor!

Thanks everyone for the input. Really Appreciate it. Funny thing is when I was doing the research months ago on which workstation to buy, I downloaded all the stuff from the Rolandus.com, but now I've seemed to have lost it! Never mind, I'll d/load them again. (Thanks Solitary!)

Mark, This is going to sound corny, but just yday I've learnt how to add rhythym to my song in Performance mode! It sounds fantastic!!! So the 'Learn a little at a time' approach is doing well! Thanks!

McCall, anytime you need to know stuff, just let me know :)

Thanks again, everyone!
