Fantom X6 or Fantom Xa

Post by cdouble34 »

OK, talk to me. I'm a newbie on a budget starting my own music production company. Since the Fantom-S is discontinued, would I be better off with a X6 or an Xa? I produce loop based R & B, Soul, Holy Hip Hop, Urban Gospel, and Smooth Jazz. I need to upgrade from my JX-305 Groovesynth. I would prefer used. So in the immortal words of Little Richard on the Geico commercials..."Help me...somebody, help me".

This isn't even a question in my mind. Get the X6!

The Xa will work fine but has some limitations like:
-only one expansion bay for an SRX card versus 4 expansion bays for the SRX on the Fantom X6

-The Xa has no audio tracks, whereas the X6 has 8 audio tracks.

-The Xa has a cheaper feeling keyboard compared to the X6 as well.

-The Xa doesn't have the same great Pianos that the X6 has.

To sum it up, if you want to really grow into your machine the X6 is the way to go. If you don't care about the above mentioned things then consider the Xa.

Xa has no aftertouch either.

What we record in life, echoes in eternity.

Thanks, visionaire and Dan S. I just wanted to be sure of which way I should go. I'm trying to go to the next level. What you said was beneficial for me. Anyone else with some input on this topic, I'd love to hear it.

BigBrotherMotown,

Thanks for your response. I also went to your myspace site. Excellent work. Now, the music...you did that on a Roland X6?
By the way, I added you as a myspace friend. Thanks again for your help.

The X6 has so many benefits over the Xa. I echo what everyone else has said.
