patterns assigned to pads playing too long

Ok im an idiot so ill try to explain this comprehensively.

I'm assigning chords or a sequence of chords patterns to the pads.
So then i record, tapping the pads shortly to only play the attack of the pattern. But when playing back the recorded track the chords are longer than i played during recording. Now some of the patterns i recorded were multiple chords so i know that when i press a pad and release it before the enitre pattern is complete it won't record the entire pattern , nor is it recording the entire length of the single chords. But still it's playing more of the chord than i would like.

I have pads setting at loop 1, and play to real. Is it something i have set wrong or is it somehow quantizing the length?
