Is there a way to track my fx6 in pt with a motif rack es? I have the fx6 midi in and out going into my motu micro lite and the motif rack es going into it as well. Im trying to record the audio, not midi. I press play but I dont hear the sounds from the rack on my fx6. The only time I hear them is when I plug in the midi in and out of the rack into my fx6. Can anyone help me with this?

how is the audio routed? you'll only hear the motif thru the X6 if you're recording into the X6

the fx6 and the motif rack es is set up to a mixer. So if I connect the rack to midi thru on the fx6, would I be able to hear it in protools?
mmmm, no

which audio interface are you using? an mbox? it has 2 ins.
there's several different ways to go:
1) plug the x6 audio and the motif rack audio into the mixer, channels 1-2 and 3-4. then plug the mixer outs 1-2 into the mbox's 1-2 ins, and protools can record a mix of both synths in stereo, right-left.
or
2) plug the x6 audio mono (l) channel into the mbox channel 1 and the motif rack mono (l) channel into the mbox channel 2, and then protools can record 1 mono channel of each instrument, giving you better separation and more options for changing mixing levels throughout your recording.
for midi recording, you'll want an interface with at least 2 ins and 2 outs so it can plug into both your synths. i've only had trouble when going through the thru port.
while protools has vastly improved their midi recording the past couple of versions, it's still a little klunky vs a dedicated midi daw software application like Logic or Cubase or Sonar or Digital Performer (or Vision)
