PCMCIA etc....

Post by Matroskin »

Sorry if this topic has been discussed before... What about types of devices that can be connected to Fantom X PCMCIA slot? Manual stands for only SM and CF memory cards... Is it all? Can I, for example, use a PCMCIA IDE-adaptor for connecting to IDE HDD? Or PCMCIA-to-USB adaptor for using Memory Sticks? Or somewhat else?

I've purchased my X6 month ago and expanded memory witha 256 Mb DIMM. But I can't buy a card and adaptor here in that *** *** *** RF. Those bastards in a store they have 1 Gb CF cards, but don't have PCMCIA adaptors for 'em, and vice versa, they DO have adaptors for SM-cards, but they have no SM cards, even 128 M!

I heard people were hooking Micro Drives to it as well. But it all depends on how much current the external device works, though with it's own power supply it's not a question. In any case you should know that it really is much more expedient to use multiple cards instead of messing with File Utility to manage loads of data on a single storage device.

BTW, strange to hear the lack of this stuff, here in Ukraine a PC card adaptor is not a problem to find. You just better search your online stores too.

You can order such an adaptor for example at Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-SDDR-64-7 ... 06?ie=UTF8

I also purchased one at amazon.de
Not expensive and works very well.
