Problem: Importing MIDI Files

I want to import .mid files into the Fantom.
When i drop the file into the [SNG] folder and try to load it as a song the file does not appear in the Song List. But the file is there because i can see it in File Utility mode.
Sometimes the file apears in the [SNG] folder. When i load it i get the message: "file too big / memory too small" or something. But the file is very small (76KB) and i have only the stock samples in Flash Ram, so there should be plenty of space.
Can you help me?

some things you could look at
1. the file name needs to be 8 char or less
2. have you tried both type 1 and type 2 mid files?
3. Is it this one specific mid file, or ALL mid files?

Thanks Lawrence!
1. i tried that - negative, but thanks for the info.
2. not sure - should that be a problem?
3. i have tried several files, none work.
I can open these files with Logic and they play back on any media player.
I just noticed that i can't import aiff files. I get the message "Empty Sample", when i load them. They are recognized in the Import folder, though.
Is this a OS problem? I'm on 1.04
???????

I think you may want to be sure of which folder you put the files in. That is key to how the fantom will see them. The 8.3 filename is also critical.

"Okay, now i can import wav files, but no aiff files. Mmmmmmh...?"
Is that because the FS only recognises the file type it is set up for in the System Setup, Sampling menu?

"Is that because the FS only recognises the file type it is set up for in the System Setup, Sampling menu?"
No. Right now, i have set it on AIFF. Today i can import WAV, but not AIFF. Yesterday i was able to import AIFF.
Sometimes Midi Files are recognized, but i am not able to load them. But i can load the individual tracks, when the files are recognized.

actually just tried it myself
Set to WAV, but happily imports AIFF.
What about formatting of the card? Wonder if thats another potential problem to eliminate?
Did you format the card from the FS?

Until today i was using the USB connection to import the files. I found out that when i drop the file in the folder the Fantom shows a blue box "USB ACCESS", then it takes like 30 to 60 seconds and the messages is shown a second time. Then the file is received by the Fantom.
So today a bought a Card Writer and it did not solve my problems. I had not formatted the card, but i was able to read the same files as when using the USB connection.

"I had not formatted the card"
So try formatting it from the FS then, and see if that helps
