Does the Fantom X have a tap tempo feature. If it does, how can it be used in live playing, say, to bring in an RPS pattern to be in sync with the tempo of the band. Can this be done with a pedal? Thanx!!

Re: Tap Tempo on Fantom X
Hi Chris.
Yes. The Fantom-X has a tap tempo feature.
Yes. It can be done with a control pedal. This is done by first connecting a non-latching push-to-close foot switch to the control pedal input on the Fantom-X then setting the control pedal input to trigger tap tempo in the System settings. Tap tempo can also be triggered from the front panel by pressing the TEMPO button and tapping the F6 (Tap) button in time with the tempo. After the first 3 taps, the Fantom begins adjusting the tempo based on the timing of your taps on that button.
It's worth noting that RPS tempo is linked to the main system tempo so you can only have one tempo for all RPS patterns (including the phrase tracks in the sequencer).

Re: Tap Tempo on Fantom X
hello chris. I have a fantom-s, but it's probably the same. I assign "tap tempo" to assignable switch 1 (in patch mode, press f5 "ctrl setting").
I think you have to set the switch to "momentary" rather than "toggle", but I'm not sure.
I use this alot. Opening the 'tempo' menu while playing live doesn't do it for me.
Fantom-s. Powerbook with mac OSX (10.3.9). some other stuff. www.andricseverance.com

Re: Tap Tempo on Fantom X
that's a good idea, andric. i kind of ran into that today. on the upside, though, even with the tempo window open and keeping me from changing patches etc, the tap tempo function itself is pretty accurate and i was able to drop in the beginning of a sequenced loop without any band issues . neat.
Re: Tap Tempo on Fantom X
Does this apply for Fantom XR too? and, if so, how do I do it? I'd buy a Boss FSFU, but don't see any pedal inputs on the back of the Fantom XR nor does the manual mention anything about tap tempo.
