Polyphony

I was wondering, since the S88 only has 64 voice polyphony, I am getting the Complete Piano board and Ultimate keys, these expansion boards wouldn't use the polyphony from the S88 would they or would they have their own polyphony. I don't want to run out of voices when prgramming some sounds.

As far as I know, the SRX cards do share polyphony with the Fantom, since they are just wave expansion cards, without their own processing engine. So, they would be counted into the 64 voice polyphone of the FS.

I know that some of the Yamaha expansion cards have their own engine, and those give extra polyphony, but not the SRX cards.


I've never checked the polyphony when I use my SRX-09, so if I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Yes, correct, SRX boards provide more waveforms and patches, but they load them into the main sound generator.
