New Fantom For NAMM?

I don't get this anticipation of the next workstation... not for synthesis reasons. Fantoms have pretty good VA sounds. I have been playing with VirusRack and it's better but not in a different league than my Juno-G. If someone would like to have some other synth sources then get an another synth. Racks are so cheap on Ebay they it can be considered worth just for an amusement purposes.

What I'd LIKE to see would be improved sequencer, better I/O options, modern speeds for load/save, VGA output and other things like motorised faders and knobs.
(I'd pay an extra for those)

IMHO for a midi sequencer should be better than those in software. Roland has a proper knowledge and hardware sequencer doesn't have be so plain (Yamaha QY700 showed that).

I have already sold my fantom X6, got motif XS6 (second time)
and I pre-ordered new fantom@88, expected delivery spring 2008.

Are you serious Radek? There's a world of difference between the Fantom engine and a Virus.

I can only second this.

Nothing against the FantomX which has a surpringly powerful engine quite well useable for some kinds of synth sounds. But with a Virus you can get most VA sounds you need, all accessible and (re)programmable very fast - from many vintage analog sounds to any kind of modern electronica. And you can control *many* more parameters during live play (among others from a much richer synth modulation matrix).

A Virus plays in fact in a completely other *synth* league...
Instead it is lacking most of the nice workstation features of the Fantom...

So no reason to prefer one over the other, just use each in its own right...

So is the Korg Radias. That synth is amazingly fat and analogish. Korg offers 24 voices of Radias split over 4 multi-timbral parts in the M3 as an option. Roland should do the same with their next workstation.
