If I would be the resident in your country then I would try your advised policy.
But one questions!!!!
Would you give me your patch if I would do that?

Sure! But we need proof of verification. Bring us, hmmm...who's a good fantom user....ARTEMIO's head. :=P

Then, the world would be saved, AND you would have your patches, AND naji, me and diametro can carry out our secret world-domination plans.

naj sam and dia...man, you guys are cold....lol! I think these guys are trying to de-throne you, Art.

Bappi, I don't think these guys have the patch you're looking for, but maybe you could send a link (maybe a popular punjab composer's site or a movie site) that contain the sounds you need and we can be of more help.

bappi,
i know we're not your competitors. Problem is, we DONT have the patches! we'll have to make it ourselves and its not gonna satisfy you if you think triton le's patches are weak. Fwiw, thats what i used to gig in india.

Again, without a good sample set to start you off, no amount of patch building will help. My advice : get a sample CD with indian instruments and load it in your fantom S. "INdian traditions" is a good sample CD from what i hear in the demos.

Thanks jangy.
I give you specially thanks to you because you have said that you want to help me. Please get my cordial thanks. There is a link http://www.indiamp3.com/. I have to use these kind of songs.

Thanks lugg for the suggestions. There's billions of cd with all kind of sounds in your countries. You cannot find anyone in my country because noone know how to use sample( I think).

Thanks sambasevam to reply. But I donot agree with you. I donot believe You don't have piano, brass, strings, saxophone or flute patch. I have said that triton le's patches are weak because I have heard the sound of Triton le only in a program.
And that patches were not good. May be the keyboardist is not expart with tweaking patch.

Bappi, no problem

My impression, from what you write, is that it is hard to get any music gear where you live, but in today's market you can buy almost anything on the internet and Federal Express/UPS will deliver to almost any location. I know for a fact that India is the biggest movie producing country in the world and has the fastest growing technology base anywhere, so what you are looking for is likely as close as your nearest city. However, if the problem is money (which most times it is), then many of us are in the same situation. For instance, I couldn't buy a sample CD now even if I wanted to, until my next paycheck arrives.

The help I can give is somewhat limited because I'm neither Indian nor an advanced Fantom user (I own a Fantom X), but I'm hoping to ask you the right questions so that other users can help also - that's how forums work best. Please let us know what level of understanding you have in patch/sample editing, because this is extremely important. There are many anonymous users on this forum that wish to help, but you must be both specific and patient to get what you want. There's no big problem "donating" patches or knowlege if we have it. Most users at this forum (from what I hear) are interested in electronic, dance or alternative music, so this will also affect the responses.

Patches are only as good as the samples they are made from. The samples in the Fantom are mostly based on western tastes, so patch editing can only do a bit of shaping to match your desires. A flute to me is probably a different instrument than to you, so if the instrument you are talking about has a specific name (eg. I found two indian flutes on google called the bansuri and venu), then please be specific, because "high quality" is not a very descriptive term and to some users this sounds like you are saying the Fantom's sounds are not high quality (which may sound insulting) which is why you got the response that you did. With the Fantom, Roland has focused mainly on making the piano and guitars sound real. The other accoustic sounds are very good, but (in my opinion) there are a lot of better samples on the expansion cards, and there's no limit to the quality of samples available these days.

Sam has made a good suggestion above about getting the "Indian Traditions" sample CD, or another sample CD similar to it, to get the basic samples of instruments that you are familiar with - for instance, here's another. There is a lot of work involved in building a good patch set on a keyboard that's not made for the music you wish to play. Your instrument is the Fantom S - you have already made that decision, so it is your responsibility to be familiar with how it works - specifically, be sure you are familiar with the sample and patch editing of your manual.

The link you sent has a lot of music in it of different styles. For instance, this link comes from the Punjab mp3 section of the indiamp3 site:

http://songs.papuyar.com/music/file_dl.php?sid=8447

In this song I hear some very standard strings in the begining that would require little work with the internal sounds, but the percussion is either recorded live or are looped samples of live recordings. Please send a link to a specific mp3 in the indiamp3 site (with an sid# like above) that best matches the style and intruments you are looking for. The Fantom S is a technical device so the solution for your problem will be technical as well.

Sorry for the long post - I hope this helps.

You told
"in today's market you can buy almost anything on the internet and Federal Express/UPS will deliver to almost any location. I know for a fact that India is the biggest movie producing country in the world and has the fastest growing technology base anywhere, so what you are looking for is likely as close as your nearest city."
At first I am not Indian I am in Bangladesh. To buy via internet I need credit card but I have no credit card. If I have credit card then at first I would buy a sample cd. Can you believe that there is no smart card or dimm card in my country?
I bought smart card and dimm card from india by my father who went to india because of treatment. He searched sample cd in a lot of musical stores but could'nt find.
So my request to "ALL OF FANTOMIZED MEMBERS" to send patch to me.

Bappi,

I listened to the sounds at the link you provided, and honestly I think if you work at it, you can make small changes to existing sounds in your Fantom to achieve those sounds. I will take you some effort and you will have to put some time into it, but you can do it. I think it would be more productive for you to spend the time working on that instead of expecting others to do the work for you, and in the end, as an added benefit, you will have gained a very useful knowledge.
