FANTOM XA:loading sounds from XV, missing X6 banks

Post by Divulgacaocdalecio »

Hello,
Last year I had the opportunity to trade my Old gear ( XP80, JV880 and A4000) for a Fantom XA and a JV1010.

It is great to have the USB conectivity, onboard sampling, powerful effects processor, but I have to confess that I still hate the factory bundled sounds of the XA. To my ears, it sounds the less "Roland" workstation I have heard.
Working at a recording studio, I realize that the Xa is prtty weak on strings, bass and piano. So.. sampling is the word to go.
Really sorry to post this on here, but in some way I do prefer the sound of the JV1010 ( XP80, JV2080 related sounds).

So, have you guys been transferring the XV and missing banks from the Fantom X6/7/8 with great success? Are the SRX strings and piano cards a must?

Thanks and sorry again

I can't see why you would have to apologize for a very legitimate question.

I personally got the SRX-06 and SRX-04 expansions to my X6 quite quickly as it was what I was aiming for. Then again, on the XA you have that 1 expansion slot.

As far as I can see it, the SRX-06 is a compilation of the jv- orchestral boards. So in your case I would get one of the newer SRX boards designed for the Fantom.

I know this is a vague response, sorry about that.

Thanks, bud. I will look at these new SRX boards.
I already have the little mighty JV1010, so the XP/JV2080 sounds are already here for fast recall.
