thank you:P
The only problem, as I mentioned, is that I can't realy try many combo's. Actually, my only choice (for trying), is the KC series:(
Thats why I ask a lot about different amps. If I'll hear enough good comments about a certain amp, and if it will have a more reasonable price, I would even buy it from the internet.
I'm not sure a whole PA system fits me. I just play around in my home and with my band on rehearshals. Its not a studio or anything like that. In performances, there are already PA systems, and an amp will be the monitor. We'll maybe even buy a very good PA system for the rehearshals room in the coming months.
So...Although stereo sounds very nice to have, I'm not sure it fits me and the way I use the Fantom..
Again, tell me if you think differently:D

KC series or something else?
Re: KC series or something else?
Dboulden wrote: Many of the Fantom's sounds are actually stereo sounds, and so when mixing them to mono, phase cancellation can cause some unexpected side-effects such as making the it sound "thin" or "hollow", or in some other cases boosting certain frequencies giving unwanted resonance on certain notes.... this may also explain why the piano patch didn't sound as good as the others when you demoed the KC150. There have previously been mentions on the forum of the stereo piano patches performing poorly in mono.

Re: KC series or something else?
From your experience, will good/moderate speakers, mixer and a power amp, make good sound? Something like keyboard amps?
Next wednesday I'll try a PA system if they'll let me in the store.

Re: KC series or something else?
I use my keyboards setup onstage in Stereo
all the guys in my band think i`m over the top!
but, the Fantom X series sucks in Mono!
Stereo is the way to go, the audiences get my keys in Stereo, o why shouldn`t the player?

Owner of Alesis Sumo 300
Kakaroto,
I will offer you my opinions of my experience with the Sumo 300.
#1. Lot's of Power
#2. Onboard Digital Effects (Versus Spring reverb) Which is superior in my opinion to any vibrations from band/stage moving
#3. Stereo Link availability - allows you to hook 2 (AMPS) to give you stereo which is disputably much more realistic than running a Stereo keyboard into a MONO mix. The Dynamics of a given sound are much better in stereo than in MONO.
#4. Wheels and handle built into the Sumo's (either the 100 or 300)
#5. XLR Left and Right OUTPUTS - eliminates the need of seperate Direct Boxes for you.
#6. Sound/Speaker quality - NOT a strong point for this amp, but very adequate in Mono, if they had offered options of other speakers, such as JBL, EV, or my personal favorite for Keys---Black Widow this amp would be VERY HARD TO BEAT!!!!
#7. Stereo L/R input jacks on each channel - since the Fantom X series have TRS Balanced jacks, why would you not utilize the best sound, rather using the standard 1/4" instrument cables
#8. EQ - Another WEAKER issue with the Sumo's. While the master EQ offers Lows, Mids, & High EQ'ing, other amps allow or have EQ on every channel. Channel 1 has Low's and High's EQ
While keyboards continually improve things dramatically, keyboard amps have lagged behind a great deal. I did alot of research before I purchashed my Sumo 300, and have been pleased with my decision. I used to play through a Peavey KB300 from (New in) 1984'ish, until I got my Sumo. The Sumo 300 has a 15" speaker and a Horn, while the 100 offers less channels, less power, and a 12" woofer and a horn.
Alesis needs to improve a few things on this amp and then they will be seen alot more on stages all over the world, mainly the speakers, but EQ could use some modifications too.
#9 Price???? Extremely well priced for what it offers!!!
All in all....A very good Monitoring amp for the money in my humble opinion!!!!
But like it is often said in this and other forums.....What matters the most is what your ears hear, not what Myself or any other individual feels.
Hope that's some imformative input for you.

Re: KC series or something else?
wow thx!
thats the kind of review I wanted to see:) thank you very much.
Now I know which features I should check closely when trying this amp.
And yes you're right, the individual's ear is the thing that matters the most.
The advantage of this amp, as you mentioned, is the low price. With this price I could buy two amps and hear my Fantom in stereo which is what I want to get after experimenting mono.
I'll try to find this amp in my country, I hope I will be succesful.
Thx a lot again!
Yours, Guy

Re: KC series or something else?
I agree that the Fantom sounds much better in stereo, so thinking about getting two amps. Just wondering:
A) What is so special about the "Stereo Link" capabilities of the Sumo line? What makes it different from buying, say, two roland KC series amps? I'm assuming I'm just going to run left channel into one amp, right into the other no matter what brand the amps are.
B) If I'm running two amps, can I step down a bit in size? I play with a 5 piece alt group, and it gets pretty loud
. Thinking that two Sumo 100s or Rolan KC 150s would cut thru and deliver good sound.. or could I go as low as two KC 60s?
TIA for your thoughts!

Re: KC series or something else?
there IS need for stereo unless you deaf...
I had KC-350, piano sound was not acceptable with one channel only. Anyway I returned it back because sound was not as good as I wanted, too "metalic". Try Yamaha stage pass 300.

Re: KC series or something else?
Does anyone know about the Groove tubes SFX amps? They are advertised in Keyboard magazine and you supposedely get stereo sound from one lightweight cabinet!
