Control Layer with expression pedal

Post by christopher_pttmn »

How would I make a piano layered with strings and have the strings' volume respond to the expression pedal. I need to be able to fade the strings in or out. Still learning, Thanx.

This is a very expressive way to play and support the piano/rhodes/wurly part. I have a performance set up with piano style sounds that I like and then a selection of sounds that I like to bring in in the layered part.

You do this by shutting off expression receive on the midi tab of a performance for the sounds you do not want to have adjusted by the expression pedal. The default setting has all of the parts receive expression data so you just shut off the piano part of that performance.

Give it a try.
