New release by Roland: Fantom X DVD owner's manual

Post by King »

Sup

I'm new to the forum, so please excuse any moments of ignorance... Anyway, I went to the Roland (US) website and saw that they had just released a Fantom-X DVD Owner's Manual - well I think it's a new release; it's says 'NEW' (not sure of the exact date of release). I've been considering purchasing an instructional DVD to help me utilise the full power of my fantom X. As I understand there is currently a dvd available, but this one is done by David Wills and MindMedia - I'm assuming it's not the same. So I was wondering if anyone has the DVD from Roland, and if it's better than the one from David Wills? And also if there is somewhere else to obtain the (new) dvd other than from Roland themselves.

Help would be appreciated...

Shweet

I believe there are currently 3 different Fantom X DVD manuals.

I highly recommend Roland's. If you are more of an audio or visual learner and hate to read manuals, it can really be a benefit.

The DVD I ordered direct from Roland WAS the David Wills version. I was not aware there were any others available.

Hm.. it's only available in the US. I've emailed Roland UK to see if they can supply it (it's not shown on their site though).

For those of us in the UK, good news. Roland will have the DVDs in stock soon. Here's their reply to me:

"Thanks for your email regarding the Fantom X DVD. We are currently awaiting stock of these DVDs (hopefully they shouldn’t be too long). The total cost (inc carriage to a UK address) would be £14.98 which can be made with cheque/postal order (made payable to Roland UK) or credit/debit card on 01792 515023. Should you wish to continue with this purchase or have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have one of the DVD's too, a British guy is on it. It is pretty good and helped me with the Intro to learning of the keybaord. I should watch it again, cos there is a lot I still dont understand.

Can I confirm, this DVD is not the same as the David Will's DVD? Where can I find the link? I searched on Roland US without success.

Thanks

DVD manual

I bought a Fantom DVD manual from eBay from a US outfit called Sudsonic for about $49. It is pretty good and has the audio expansion stuff on too. I don't know what the Roland one is like. Its a pity that high end manufactureres don't include a DVD manual in with the paper one as the gear is so complex these days.
