PC Card and it's functions .....

Post by atari4mb »

Hi, i am very considering buying an x8 and am interested in its pc card interface. I own an mv8000 but i am thinking of (upgrading) to a fantom and have some questions. Does the pc card mean that wav's can be edited on you're pc( chop, loop etc)? Is the pc card just a file dump utility or is the editing in real time so that the fantom and pc work in harmony?Any help would be appreciated before i take the plunge. Thanks.

The Fantom X keyboards have a PC Card slot. PC card is also known as PCMCIA cards. In the case of the FX, the PC card would be flash memory, to store samples and patches. Usually, people get a PC Card adapter so that they can use Compact Flash (or other flash memory) cards in the PC Card slot.

It does not connect your Fantom to a PC. It just just a means of storage. You can save samples and patches that you've created with the Fantom onto this card, or you can also import samples and patches from your computer and save it onto this card. But to import samples from your PC, you would generally use the USB interface to transfer the samples.
