Flightcase for Xa

Post by martin2006 »

Does anyone have any recommendations for a flightcase for the Xa. It needs to be very well built and it should be flightproof.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Whatever you do, don't buy one of those cheap ass "ATA cases" from ebay (wow! includes FOAM!!! with RECESSED latches!!!). I'd put one of my SKB cases up against one of those things any day. My opinion is you get what you pay for, for the most part. Sure you pay for the name a bit on the really nice cases, but if you go on the cheap you're asking for trouble.

Oh and for the record I didn't buy one of those ebay NY case pieces of junk, I just have major hate for them because any time you do an ebay search for anything remotely keyboard related you get 200 ads for those stupid cases

Thanks - any recommendations as to what flightcase may reduce the risk of damage? (I do love my instrument and would not want to have 34 keys and the odd knob flying around in my case when I arrive.)

There must be some sturdy, reliable solution out there? I have never taken any boards overseas yet...

Well I have never taken a synth on a flight. But I do ride and race bicycles all over the world, and the one thing I've learned from taking bikes on planes is PACK IT TIGHT. With foam that fits around the item. If it can't bounce around in the case, that eliminates about 95% of the situations where it could get damaged. And that other 5% of the situations, it probably doesn't matter what kind of case you used.
