Midi channel advice

Post by Razorbreed »

I used to use a Yamaha RM1x as a sequenecer and run 16 channels of midi out into my Korg M1, a sampler, drum module etc. Now I am using my X6 as a sequencer I am wondering just how many external midi channels I can use. Is it possible to write 16 tracks of X6 on one midi channel and still transmit on the other 15 midi channels at the same time ? Plus my 8 audio tracks would make it a killer sequencer / sampler !

thanks

The Fantom has only got one MIDI-controller built-in - you can not control more channels than the usual 16 ...

Hi, I was thinking more along the lines of using 1 midi channel for all the internal sounds and then transmit data externally using the other 15 channels. Am I right in thinking that all the channels on the sequencer can use 1 midi channel ?
Thanks

If you would use only one MIDI-channel for the Fantom's internal synthesizer, then you would end up with the Fantom playing everything with just one sound or timbre ... I can't imagine that this is what you're looking for ... ;)

Usually, each MIDI-channel can only sound one timbre at a time. You can "save" some channels by setting up split modes where different key ranges play different sounds. Doing so, you can perhaps save *some* tracks, but I fear you won't be able to get everything into one channel ...
