Hi
I am thinking of buying a Fantom Xa and have a few questions about it.
Tried to find the answers in the user manual and here in the forums but just wanted to double check:
1
can you resample to wav on the xa? will i need to get a memory expansion card for it?
2
haven't been in the shop yet, just started researching... is the keyboard action of the xa as bad as some people say ("springy", "plasticky", "uncomfortable")? i don't care about a piano action board as i usually program stuff, but sometimes i like improvising. i have a dx100 with funny small keys which are pretty light but i can play superfast solos on it... so that's what i'd prefer over weighted action. do you think the xa is like that?
3
how would you guys rate the screen? is it easy to navigate, and is it nice to work with it?
4
are you guys happy with the reliability?
5
does it tend to crash, does it have annoying bugs (by bugs i mean stuff it doesn't do as opposed to stuff you *can* do with it but may be to lazy to figure out in the manual...)
6
will it outdate fast? is it worth the dough?
thanks for your answers...

1. You can resample to wav, you will need to buy more memory 512KB ideally although I have coped well so far with 256 and a 512KB flash card
2.Didnt like the action at first but I soon got used to it and it now feels natural
3. The screen is small but I havnt had any problems with it. I used to use the PC and softsynths but now do all my sequencing on the Xa
4. Had it 6 months nothing has gone wrong yet
5. It has crashed a couple of times when I have been overloading the CPU by quantizing with the song running so I dont do that anymore.
6. Not sure if it'll outdate fast, depends what kinda music you want to write. I'd say it was worth the dough as there is nothing else in the price range.
Good luck

Re: Fantom Xa questions
RogerP has summed up my feelings perfectly, so I'm just gonna say: "ditto"

Pearls of wisdom, no mistake, but I bought a Fantom-Xa anyways
