OK,
I am finally ready to upgrade. Just to avoid confusion, I wanted to consult you guys before making final purchasing decisions.
I will be purchasing...
A.) Fantom X Audio Track Expansion 2.0 upgrade from Roland
B.) 512MB 133Mhz 168 pin 3.3v RAM
C.) 512MB Compact Flash Card
My question is: Is 512MB the Maximum compatible size CF card to purchase? I understand it is the max RAM sample memory, but I have read the limits to be both 512 and 1024. Is the capacity larger with the 2.0 upgrade?
I'm ready to place the order now, just wanted to hear back from the forum before making the jump.
Also, any advice or reviews are appreciated!
Ready to Upgrade
Re: Ready to Upgrade
Many people here are using 2 GB cards with success. However, I personally think that it's better to get two or three 512 MB cards than one large card - since the Fantom [1] can't load samples associated with a particular song/patch [2] can't access multiple patch banks from one card. Having several cards each with a size of the sample RAM makes much more sense, I hope you understand.

Don't forget your PCMCIA adapter.
I use a one gigabyte card. using file folders, I think it works well. I can load anything in a folder, anytime I want, with out having to switch to one of two other cards.....My FantomX8, is up against a wall, and it's not that easy to swap cards in and out.....you have to take the whole adapeter & card out every time. I just leave it in there, Samples I plan on using, are in the Roland folder, the others are in folders that make sense, according to the song I'm working on. I have a laptop, that I use to manage the files between the folders. Works well for me.
