fantom-s blowout
hi neveryone
anyone about to get a fantom-s should go nto musiciansfriend.com
for some reason they are blowing them out for $1499
that just a little more than i paid for mine last week and i got mine on the roland salesperson accomodation plan for 10% below dealer cost. no wonder they shipped it to me so quick- the price was about to drop. i am kind of angry at them for this
fantom-s blowout
Re: fantom-s blowout
That's interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if Roland announces a new workstation keyboard at the Winter NAMM show. That would explain why there has not been a major upgrade to the Fantom S. Maybe they're coming out with a keyboard version of the MV 8000 to compete with the Korg Triton Studio.
Re: fantom-s blowout
It may be not so much there is a replacement for the Fantom-S imminent, but that Roland are
1. making a competitive response to arrival of Motif ES in shops, which regardless of numerous other comparison issues, does offer 128 voice polyphony so looks better on paper at a price similar to what the Fantom-S was launched.
2. getting in a pre-emtive stike before a replacement for the Korg Triton is made at Winter NAMM, which seems likely.
The Fantom-S isn't that old and has only actually been in the stores a few months now. I would be surprised if they replaced it so quickly....but then again....

You beat me to it...
I was just going to post that same thing. I was on the 8th street music site, to submit a request for a quote on Motif ES, when splattered on their front page was a "Fantom-S sale" banner ad. I clicked it and low and behold they list the 61 at $1499. That's quite a price reduction.
Indeed that could be a precursor to an announcement at Winter NAMM, or a response to Motif ES. In fact, Fantom-S at $3-400 cheaper than Motif ES (street prices) would actually be inline with the feature set of both instruments IMHO.
In any event it looks like we could pick up brand new FS61s at $1500, which renews my interest in FS over MO ES. But I will wait to see what quotes I get from 8th street and Riks on the MO ESs.
Will keep you posted.

Re: fantom-s blowout
I emailed FullCompass to see if they'd compensate what I paid for the Fantom - $1685.. that'd be $185 back if they honored that.. but I got email errors after I sent the question to my sales associate. I'm calling them today.
BTW, it hasn't gotten to my door yet.. you all will know

Re: fantom-s blowout
I think it's too soon. The FS was only anounced at the last winter Namm. They would benefit from an OS upgrade rather than a new superior workstation. That would anger many many customers!!
...unless the FS was used by Roland as a testing ground...
