Hi all,
I've just been playing my X8, and have noticed a clicking sound has developed on one of my keys. The key is the F (just above middle C).
When I press it down light to moderately, I can hear a click sound which sounds like a digital click.
The problem isn't related to the patch I use, it seems to happen all the time, just on that one key, and at a certain velocity. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced any similar problem?
I have turned off all the tones (patch edit) to isolate the click...it's definately audible, and would be a real pain in the backside for recording...
I use my X8 every day, so maybe it just needs a 'service' or something.... any ideas would be gratefully recieved.
Regards,
-Rob
X8 key clicking problem
Re: X8 key clicking problem
So this click is audible on the audio outputs? Is it audible on both the PHONES and the OUTPUT A and OUTPUT B ports? If you have something to plug the S/PDIF into (home stereo maybe), check to see if the click sound is also audible on the digital outputs. If it only sounds on the analog outputs even with all the Tones turned off, there may be some sort grounding issue internally with that key (unlikely as this may be).

Re: X8 key clicking problem
My new X8 (since swapped for an X7) had a problem with one key (A above middle C). It was not making proper contact with the contact board underneath the keybed. Symptoms were different, but it could well be the same problem.
Roland (UK) replaced the whole contact board and it was OK after that. They turned it around in a day so it wasn't a big problem but it shouldn't have got through quality control in that condition.
My X7 has had no such problems (same contact board - different keybed)
FantomX7, V-Combo, JV-90
SRX-07

Re: X8 key clicking problem
Thanks for the replies. I haven't been able to test the S/PDIF outputs unfortunatley, but the click is in the headphones and the output A and B ports....
When I record using the internal sequencer, the click isn't recorded, so I think it might be a contact/grounding/keybed issue. I'm not hugely into the techicalities inside the X8, so have decided to take it into the local 'keyboard man' (recommended by Roland), so he can take a closer look. I really appreciate the replies, and if i get the problem fixed, I'll post the results!
Thanks again,
