Antares, Gator and SKB make 88 key cases that should be suitable. There are a few members here who use their X8 live and should be able to recommend a good case (Waynester??)... I have an X7 and use a Gator GK276 and so can vouch for the quality of the brand.

For the memory, check the FAQ: http://fantomized.info/docs/faq/Fantomi ... l#entry1.1

My X8 fits well into the Gator Case (Gator GK-288R I think). and I've had no problems gigging regularly with it. Mine just goes in the back of a van all the time, so can't vouch for any extensive travelling i.e. planes etc....

The straps inside the case are very good, and the wheels can be a nice touch too...

I've used RoadReady cases in the past, but I'm not a gigger... I would take everyone elses recommendations before mine.

PS, I'm not totally sure, but I've heard that the SKB doesn't fit the X8, so that might be worth avoiding...

I use a RoadReady for my X7, that's one of the best you can get if you're flighing. http://www.roadreadycases.com/

ok.. i saw the road ready.. it sure looks like great quality... now.. it does cost like $140 more than a gater... how could the gator and the road ready be compared in the matter of protection? because if the difference is abysmal $140 may means the diference between saving or killing my $2800 baby in the trip... but if difference is not so different i'd go and pick a gator.... what do you guys think?

BTW.. i bought the viking Memory.. let's hope it works....

The Gator should be quite capableof taking the knocks, but to be sure I'd go for the Road Ready 'cos airport baggage handlers aren't exactly careful with your baggage!

that's weird since my FX8 won't fit in a Gator case (FX8 was to wide & deep for the case, I couldn't shut the case).

I'd recommend the SKB case, beware to choose the one that's 62 inches wide (instead of 58 inches).

For soft case, I recommend SKB too, it has lots of padding & quite safe for short-distance transport.

I recently bought a Gator GK-288R for my Fantom X8, and can recommend it. Note that there's a similar case called GK-288SLIM that is /not/ big enough for the X8.

pwroberts does the GK-288R fit the fantom x8 easily or you have to force it to close it???

The SKB inner dimensions are actually smaller than the gator ones...

Easily. There's a good inch or two of space left on all sides of the X8.
