xa vs. x6
Do anybody know how many more sounds the x6 has over the xa?
I have a mpc 2000xl and about to grab sonar or m-box for windows xp.
I love the x series but im not tryin to spend extra if I don't have to.
thanks for your help!

XA VS. X
THE XA IS HOT it is minus 256 wave forms.but alot of the new presets in the x can be found on the xa.dacronic minilike and tre roads are just some examples.it doesnt have the touch screen but who cares.dont let the price fool you it is a very powerful instrument.i would prefere an xa with an expansion board or two over the x any day.
Re: xa vs. x6
The X series don't have touch screens. Unless they do, in which case I'll feel very stupid.

Chubbylove... your provocational posts are unwelcome.
The touchscreen comment is incorrect, neither the Xa OR the X6/7/8 have a touchscreen.
You can't put one or two SRX cards in an Xa, it accepts only one.
If you are intent on throwing your weight about, I suggest you learn at least a little of what you are talking about, otherwise you will simply be regarded as the troll that you are.
theangel2g... The Xa doesn't loose that much vs. the X6/7/8. It has less waveforms, a multiline LCD vs. a colour screen, 9 small pads vs. 16 larger ones, 4Mb of sample RAM as standard vs. 32Mb on the X6/7/8.
If your work is predominantly computer based, I don't think the smaller screen will cause you many problems, and neither will the smaller pads since you have an MPC 2000XL. The sample RAM can be expanded by up to 512Mb. The only issue that may affect you is the lesser number of internal waveforms, and only room for one SRX card. Other than that the Xa can make the same sounds as the rest of the X series (bar those usiing the extra ROM sounds). There have been reports that the build quality of the Xa doesn't seem to be as robust as the X-series, though this shoulod only concern you if you are going to gig regularly wthout a flight case.

Re: xa vs. x6
I am having the same problem decieding between XA- X6
the problem is that i only have tried the XA and no one has an X6 around me. But I have the money for any of them, but on the XA i tried out the preset Performances and there they had a lot of good ones like High-NRG which was really cool and the Drum beats are really dope. But I was wondering if X6 had the same stuff if not better Performances as toward making cool Slicers and cool dance patterns using the Step LFO and what not.
I dont have any Computer support so only the Keyboard- I also found out that the XA arent actual Pads but rather triggers which kind of sucked- But for 500 dollars more If it has performances or if i can make performances like it I think ill get the X6- ANY OPINIONS?!?! Thanks!

Re: xa vs. x6
If you have the money for either, I would definitely go with the X6. You have all of the capabilities of the XA(including Performances), more expansion slots(4 as opposed to 1), better interface and screen, and with the v2 upgrade you an have 8 audio tracks to record into. And better quality pads.
Just my opinion. . . . . .

Re: xa vs. x6
yeah i tottally hear you- but i was checking some of the videos out for performances and on the XA there was one called Groovin beat and when you press one key a bassline, some keys and a slicer plays while you can do stuff using rhodes on the top part of the keys can you do all this using the fantom x and does it have some already?

WHY ARE MY POSTS UNWELCOME.I TRY TO BE OBJECTIVE.I AM A USER LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.I OWN A FANTOM X6 AND A FANTOM S-88 AND MV-8000.I HAVE HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH AX'S SURE BUT I STILL LOVE THEM,AND USE THEM DAILY.BUT I DO THINK ROLAND HAS NEGLECTED FANTOM S USERS .SO MAYBE I AM GUILTY OF COMING ON TO STRONG IN THAT REGARD.I REMEMBER USER NSHELDEN THANKED ME WHEN I PROVIDED ACCURATE INFO ABOUT V2 UPGRADE MONTHS AGO . I EVEN PROVIDED THE NAME AND THE CONTACT NUMBER AT ROLAND.PEOPLE REALLY SHOULDN'T RELY ON THESE POSTS TO MUCH FROM PEOPLE LIKE YOU.THEY SHOULD CONTACT ROLAND DIRECTLY AND GET THE CORRECT INFO.
Re: xa vs. x6
^ being objective means you're not trying to sell someone on one piece of gear over another...just present the options and let them decide for themselves...
...just nit-picking.

thanks!
Thanks for all the replies, I think that I like the time strech sampling 0f the fantom so I might ditch the MPC and grab the x6. Im not really that big on sampling but I do a little.

Because so far your post are nothing more than "this is sh*t, go buy that" or calling people "pessimistic assholes" just because they disagree with you. You completely dismiss the Fantom telling evryone to buy an MPC... the MPC is a fine instrument, but not of much use to someone who's looking for a keyboard. You told Dansgold that the service dept didn't do his repair... I think he is in a far better situation than you to know what they did or didn't do than you are.
So just to clarify, YOU are welcome here, YOUR PROVOCATIONAL POSTS are not. It is quite easy to put your point across without being so adversarial.

theangel2g,
I don't think you'll regret getting an X6. I, too, am not heavy into sampling yet(but plan to learn more), and the X6 has kept me interested and busy learning all that it can do. There are folks on the forum that are quite knowledgeable about sampling(Artemio, Steph3dfx, Nathan, etc.) that can assist you in getting the most out of the X in that regard.
Good luck with whatever you choose and make some good music!

Re: xa vs. x6
Hi,
so since XA has twice smaller ROM than X6 then I presume the XA's waveforms are of much (twice?) worse quality (even though
XA has a bit less waveforms than X6).
Can this really be heard when you compare/listen to the 2 instruments?
(I have not had a chance to do it yet)
Thanks.
