Problem with the finish of my X8

Post by skracus »

Hello,

Has anyone had a problem with the finish of the aluminum shell of the Fantom X8. I just received mine, and everywhere it has been touched you can see a difference in the finish. I don't have oily hands or anything either. For example I don't have to change guitar strings until they break. Any thoughts?

Another forum member bought an X8 in Hong Kong and had a similar problem. See the following thread: http://forum.fantomized.info/?action=sh ... &page=last

Good luck.

i bought mine in Hong Kong from Tom Lee Music, I am very happy with it. I have not had a problem with colour etc. It is brushed stanless steel, same as the Delorean sports car from the Back to the Future movies. If youtouch it, lean on it etc you will leave a mark, but you can easily wipe it off with a damp soft cloth (hardly wet at all) or you can use your own breath and breath on it so it condensates then wipe it off (wipe with the grain, not against) this is what I do after each time i use it, and after 4 weeks now it still looks 100% and beautiful!

if you take the extra 5 mins to keep it clean, it will look 100% always.

Mine's the same I think - the finish is really patchy. I considered sending it back, but I'd waited a month for it and didn't want to part with it!

Info from my call to Roland

Post by skracus »

Sorry for not getting back for so long on this thread.....

I talked to Roland....surprise surprise they have not heard of this issue at all. They told me to use Windex on a rag and wipe it down. Didn't work. I may have to send it back. To Rolands credit they said they would take care of it if I wanted it fixed.
