X8 Sound breaking up

I have a rather disturbing problem with my X8.
When I play back songs after recording 2 or 3 tracks the sound breaks up and sometimes the whole playback stops. I have discovered that this only occurs when the USB is set to storage and the MIDI cables are connected! If I disconnect the MIDI cables or change the USB to MIDI the problem goes away!!!!!
I want my X8 setup with USB storage and MIDI cables connected.
Is this a fault? Maybe it's a bug? Or is it me? I must say I'm very confused.
Has anyone experienced similar??

It could be the cables. Try new cables and also experiment with keeping the cables away from each other...just taking guesses here.
