Any idea when the new OS is coming out?

I know, Roland takes forever to update/upgrade new OS's. Sometimes they promise to and then come out with a New Keyboard that does what you want your current keyboard to do, but discontinue your keyboard. I need to be able to load AKAI samples into a Fantom. Won't buy one until I know they're going to upgrade. Any news anyone?

If you are right with what you said about rolands marketing strategy, I would rather say that they will release a new Keyboards with your wished features. And you would buy it...

As a long-time Roland user, going through several iterations of their flagship workstations, Roland does not add major features to OS upgrades, but simply addes the new features to their next-generation workstation. So don't expect anything significantly new in future OS versions for the Fantom-X. You'll most likely have to wait until the "Fantom-Z."

Hiya Boogsy - I don't think anybody but Roland can tell you what is planned for the future, but we all like to guess.

Roland updates it product line frequently mostly at trade shows http://www.roland.com/about/en/business-activities.html

The next key product release time is the Winter Namm 2005, so if you can afford to, wait a while.

Yeah, but does that update do anything other than fix bugs? I know that the biggest complaint I've read amongst users is the inability to read AKAI samples. It should be a no brainer, but you know how territorial Roland is. Example: It took them forever to finally make something ADAT compatible back when everyone had an ADAT and everyone was using the ADAT light pipe. Okay, well maybe it's not the greatest example, but you get my slice of cheese.

By the way, I spent about an hour in a Sam Ash Music store and after I decided that the FAntom X was my next purchase, I did start to fiddle around with the Yamaha ES and dammit, if I didn't fall back into confusion about which one to get. The Fantom blows it away in egronomic design, which is my first and foremost priority, (even if you have a machine that has the greatest sounds in the world, they're of no creative use if they're a pain in the ass to get to; and by then, the moment has passed)

But those damn Motif ES sounds.... Damn, they were good. I had to admit it. and the Sequencer/User friendly aspect of it wasn't as annoying as I thought it would be.

Hmmmmm...


Annoyingly perplexed again.
