No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
Hi.
I own a Fantom X6 with OS 1.03. I've noticed what seems another bug: after loading all samples manually, I have no skipback sampling (the blue light in the button is off, and if I press it, a message saying that skipback sampling is not possible is displayed). Is this another bug?
When this happens, I have found that by entering in the sampling menu, and then in the Sampling option and lastly exiting I can get skipback sampling option working again.
Has anyone experienced something simillar?
Greetings,
Jordi

Re: No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
While in sample list or sampling mode, the skip back sampling is not working. If it doesn't work when you are in patch or other mode, then you should check the free RAM you have.
Re: No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
It doesn't work in patch mode. And, it's not due to lack of RAM (it has 512 Mb and only a little part of it is being used).
Re: No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
yeah i noticed similar prob with skip back
it was not available in a mode it was normaly available in...?

Hi Jordi.
I haven't experienced this with my Fantom-X8 yet with OS 1.03 (also have 544 MB RAM). How many samples did you manually load? Where did you load them from (CARD or USER)?

Re: No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
I tested loading 7 MB worth of samples from card from 1 saved stereo sample saved on card and could not reproduce this error. More information is needed to properly test this.
1) How many samples, not just the total size.
2) Where were the samples loaded from (previously saved samples or imported audio from /TMP/AUDIO_IMPORT).
3) If imported, were they all 44.1 kHz 16-bit or were they different?
4) Were they WAV files or AIFF files?
5) Stereo or mono or a mixture?

Re: No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
Well, I'm loading 46 Mbytes of samples, from wich 2 of them are in stereo and the rest (176) in mono. None is placed in the user area (although it must load the crappy preset samples), all of them are in the 512 Mb CF.
All are samples previously imported in AIFF format, in 44.1Khz and 16bits.
I load them manually, just after booting the synth.
Well, I hope this description helps. Do you need to know anything else?
Greetings,
Jordi

Re: No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
Hi Jordi.
Thanks for the clarification. That does help. Unfortunately, I will not be able to come up with 178 samples (adding up to 46 MB) in order to test this.
Are you able to reproduce the problem after importing a small number of samples? Instead of me trying to guess what procedure you're using to import these samples, perhaps you could walk me through your process, step-by-step, so I can try an re-create the bug you're talking about. Maybe QuinnX could do the same thing.

Re: No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
I have tried loading loading the whole set (by marking all of them) and I have not been able to reproduce the bug (neither trying to load a small subset of samples).
The bug happens when I load all samples: I switch on the synth without autoloading samples, then I press the "Save/Load" Button, and then the "Load all samples" option. When the loading process is done, the blue light from the skip back sampling button does not lit on again.
I must notice that, in this point, if I hit the Sample List button and just exit, the SBS recovers its functionality; so this could be the reason that I am not being able to reproduce the bug by manually loading some samples as you must enter the sample list and exit to do it.
Well, I hope I am not the only person suffering from this problem (though frankly, it's quite easy to override).
Greetings
J.

Re: No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
Hi Jordi.
I was able to reproduce the bug using the following steps with only 1 sample (1.7 MB) saved on CARD.
1) Turn on Fantom-X8 with it set to NOT automatically load preset or user samples.
2) Press SAVE/LOAD.
3) Press F7 (Load AllSmpl) and F8 (Exec) to confirm.
After the sample is loaded, the SKIP BACK SAMPLING button is not light and pressing it generates an error message "Cannot Execute Skip Back Sampling." I pressed every button on the keyboard and none of them would re-enable SBS except the SAMPLE EDIT and SAMPLE LIST buttons. Pressing either one of these twice would re-enable SBS. I also tried this procedure using the "Load Song+Sample" and got the same exact effect.
I'm using OS 1.03 on a Fantom-X8. Not sure if this is a new bug in 1.03 or an existing one, but it's kind of annoying (but easily worked around luckily).

Re: No skipback sampling after loading all samples!
This bug has been fixed in the Fantom-X6/X7/X8 with the release of OS 1.04.
