well speaking to them today i was told there was some negative reaction to it.
i discussed it further and at great length detailing everything i pointed out in this forum and the file system structure and solutions.

it was greeted with with much acceptance that this is something that needs to be addressed but was indicated that roland dont always address something that only one person reports and would react more favorably the more poeple that hilight the issue.

Somebody who feels moved by spending 2000.00 on a synth, and thinking it should do at least the basics...LMAO

OK QX I'm with you on this one.
But wich channel should we use to adress to Roland. Can we join our efforts in such a way that we all reach them?
I've already contacted my dealer but I don't know if there is anything else I can do. Can Artemio help us on this?

my address was to call roland uk
now im not sure calling them again will be productive since what i discussed is being sent to R&D
and i was assured of an update by email when it has been evaluated..

i would suggest email (alot of email) requesting it to be fixed

and if art would not mind..
poeple should also add there support to have this fixed by adding there post to this thread from here on in, I was assured that R&D do come here reguarly and read what has been posted so if we have a list of supporters to show this is something we want fixed it would help.

Okay heres me starting.....

ROLAND I would like this file system fixed!

hi guyz,

thank god i got the FS! i have the same probs as u do, without spending 500 bucks more!!! he he :-) no offense to anyone, but a solution :

why cant we connect to USB and save the backup to the computer. in this way, we can save multiple backups and can import them one at a time..... is this possible?

and hey, someone said that Roland has school kids as programmers....i think i am eligible (11th grade :D ) can i apply for a job? i desperately need one.....

and DONT question my programming talent and ability...right now, i can program a program that asks the user for a name (we should type only characters or prog. crashes..) and the computer will output that name.... :D

;)))

Hi QX,
don't you think it would be better to start another thread on that matter? This one is already 5 p long.
If you start it i'll post right away. I think you should take the lead 'cause you're the one who pointed it out. Otherwise I'll be glad to start a new thread, if you agree.

QuinnX,
I need you to understand something. If you really think that Roland will take action even if there is some demand for this feature your talking about....your very very very wrong my friend. just check out the old posts about the Fantom-S and all it's complaints. They took all our suggestion for the FS and it all went in the Fantom-X. You need to do the following, Go through your FX's manual, find out what it can do and what it can't do and decided weither you can live with the limitation or not. if you can'tlive with it then SELL IT....SIMPLE AS THAT. Do no keep your FX and hope that Roland will update it with features cause they WON'T. What Roland will most likly do is take all what you requested and put it in the BRAND NEW "FANTOM-VZtheSHIT" and leave your FX out.

My friend I've complained alot about the FANTOM-S and others did too and we were left out with the release of the FX, those who couldn't live with the limitiations simply sold there FS. Those who knew what the FS can and can-not do and kept it are people who are happy with it's limitations and are not botherd by it. Again, I suggest going through your fantom-X's feature and decided if you can live with it or not. DO NOT EXPECT ANY UPDATES FROM ROLAND. you are setting your self for more disappointment.

i understand what your saying but theres an old adage

UNITED WE STAND
DEVIDED WE FALL

we need to unite and all show our feelings about this.
if we do nothing, you get nothing.

we must all dictate change or roland will continue its regime of primative programing techniques.

you say contacting roland will do nothing..
it will if we have many voices

I will say this... i did contact roland regarding a function on the v-synth when it was released that was lacking and made a job laborious and they implemented it.
so it does pay to speak up..

Xmor,

We're running through the same again. I didn't agree with QX from the beggining also but we're trying something now... And WHY NOT try it again?
Its the least we can do. At least we can say we did and there's no big deal on posting about it. You also can help us posting in the thread I started. Selling the FX is not an option for now and Roland have already done 1 update so it can do another

...
But I have to say - all discussion of insults, etc. aside - that QuinnX is 100% spot on about this lack of attention on Roland's part.

Emu and Ensoniq samplers (and frankly ... some Rolands did as well if memory serves me correctly) had this basic level of functionality from the very start. It seems to be gross negligence on Roland's part to have botched this so badly.

I'm hoping that somewhere in the depths of Roland there is someone that can make this happen in some future OS update.

Clearly the present OS has the ability to recognize a directory structure, so half of the work is done.

Being able to do simple things like have a patch load up the associated samples, and have songs load associated samples as well, is not rocket science. Similary, the present "numbered samples" scheme doesn't make any sense ... how can I use a patch/sample from one CD and another from a 2nd CD at the same time if they have the same sample numbers?

I'm hoping that somewhere in the depths of Roland there is someone that can make this happen in some future OS update.

It's just inexcusable if this doen't get fixed.
