Congrats Artemio on your new opportunities in the music business!

As for people being upset with Roland coming out with new items, I for one wish all keyboard manufacturers kept releasing new, improved versions on a *more* frequent basis!

For example, I greatly hope Roland comes out with a Fantom-X2 soon (i.e. at 2005 January NAMM), which does 6 things:

1. improves the interface to add undo/redo, and track select and mute buttons, and increased pad functionality (all like the Xa added)

2. Increases the base ROM to equal or surposs the Motif ES or Triton Extreme

3. Increases simultaneous insert effects to allow 8 tracks minumum, plus per-part EQ, like the Motif ES allows

4. increases available arpeggiations equal to or surpassing the Motif ES or Korg Karma

5. Increase user patches and combies, with all user-rewritable, like Korg Triton Extreme (over 1,000 patches and over 1,000 combis!)

6. Allow a different synth engine to be added (like Triton MOSS or Motif plug-in boards DX, AN, etc.)

This would be my dream synth!

Dear Swandiver,

Nobody complains about the improvment of a keyboard!

My comlains as a Fantom X owner are:

1. Why the interface didn't improve to add undo/redo, select and mute buttons and icreased pad functionality. Why it's the same as Fantom-S. If that was difficult to achive this technology, how come they introduce this new features in about 6 months?!

2. No Complains about the wave ROM, yet!

3. Again, why no improvment from Fantom-S to Fantom-X ?!

4. Same as above

5. Same as above

6. Same as above

In other words, It's not acceptable to add MINOR new features to a keyboard and introduce that as a new generation of workstation series. Fantom-X is actually Fantom-S+

This is almost the 4th time that I'm writing my opinions about FX, though I know nobody in Roland support or Update team cares about our needs, or even our bug reports!

For the 5th time:

1. 3 MFX effects is extremely tight for a PRO user.

2. Click, crackle, glitch and other noises! are not acceptable from a PRO keyboard while switching between patches.

3. A Pro user, need a fast keyboard. He wants to switch between diffrent patches on stage with out any delay.

4. Dynamic pads should be much more functional.

Swandiver, can you tell me why this weaknesses didn't improve from S to X?!

At last, I'm sorry to tell you that I think the recent co-operation between this forum (Artemio) and Roland, won't have any benefits for the costumers, but just for the Roland.

They start working with Art, because he is a great composer, sound designer and also, he is well-known between Fantom users. They didn't invite him for a co-operation because of his forum, and for his ideas about improvments, for his ideas about bugs, updates or to report users needs.

(I didn't mean anything bad about Art, just Roland)

Sorry this little nag!
Sam

congratulations artemio

finally roland recognizes what you have done for them with this side.

as an ower of the fantom s I don´t feel cheated by roland.
the fs is a solid workhorse (no software hickups so far :-) ) and that´s exactly what i wanted. the tweak book showed me, that there is still a lot to learn.

so let´s welcome the new xa users and focus on making music and exchange tips about the fantom family

FX wave ROM is 128 mb, which 64 mb is the FS samples and the extra 64 mb is mainly the new Grand Piano, Acoustic Guitar, Bass and Drum samples.

Wow man you guys are still in a gripe about this ? Technology is always changing anything that has to do with technology will become outdated in a couple months/years after its release. It seems that more people on here are more focused on having the next newest thing than doing what you enjoy which is making music. Take Art for example he owns the classic Fantom the original don dadda of all the Fantoms and what....after two hardware updates his music is still hot man its not about what you have its how you use it . You guys are starting to act like a bunch of women on their period all bunched together in a hot room with no food or Oprah (no offense to women members or women in general at all) . The Neptunes uses a Korg MicroKorg , Korg 01/W,Esoniq ASR-10, Korg Triton,Roland 1080 & 2080 Sound Modules , and Moogs <<< very simple stuff nope not the newet baddest ass equipment just stuff that makes them comfortable and even if you dont listen to Hip-Hop or Pop or any other Urban music you still know who they are and I need not explain their track record. Its YOU who makes the music YOUR the creative mind behind the machine they keyboard is just your canvas and the sounds are your paint brush ...now go nuts and create some art and quite crying...I'm done and last of all congrats Art your music is sick , Peace.

It's such a wonderful world...minus the ignorance.

Hi people,

I'm really surprised. Things are changing from year to year.

Two considerations for this baby.

Preset samples and song demos are from da MAN.
The pads also function as alphanumeric buttons.

But, for the rest of things, I prefer the S.

If for some reason I have to switch keyboards I still go for the X, specially for the extra sound quality, sampling expandability and more space to retain my sounds and/or songs, though these two last things the XA brings too. And of course, the X also exists in 76 keys.

But for now, I'll keep on making music with the S.

Congratulations Artemio for writing a new page for your life, and for the Roland's life too!

Peace - Edu Camargo.

Thanks very much to everybody for your kind congratulations.

I once again say that one should never be afraid of the progress which is a natural thing of the human race, and always remember that you can wait forever for something to appear.

For example, take swandiver's post (no offence here, man): he wants all that inside the workstation, but hypothetically in two years when this kind of full-featured board appears, his demands will grow anyway, because of the inavoidable progress of other keyboards, and he will not ne satisfied anyway again. This way, you can wait for your dream synth forever.

I prefer making sounds and music, not wasting my time waiting for some gear.

Artemio.
