Chick, I hate to break it to you but, when the fantom s came out with the promises it came with, many of us were up in arms. We lambasted Roland from every conceivable angle and much to our surprise what happened? They released the fantom x. Fortunately, this forum had a albeit innocuous impact on a few of the "new" features in the fantom x. It still did little to compensate those of us with the fantom s. The fact of the matter is, all the noise made on this forum regarding chickensys converter, falls only on the ears of other fantom owners and not the executives of Roland. Might I suggest you start your letter writing campaign to Roland instead? Strictly in my own ignorant opinion the members of this forum are used solely as a debug team and little more. I was quite surprised when at least Roland Ukraine acknowledged Artemio recently. I don't think we can expect much more than that. Again. JMIO

Pianodick, if this was indeed the case, it would be already great for us. In most other forums, there is a general consensus to say Roland doesn't care at all... even about bugs.

We might _possibly_ be a debug team (in the best case) but basically I don't care as we are _defintely_ the best user forum ever created on a particular Roland product. I like the mood here (I read more than I post), users are great and helpful to eachother, and behave most of the time as gentlemen. This is kind of unique... Thank you Artemio, thank all of you members (and you, Pianodick).

Thank you very much!. Hearing such kind words is always a pleasure. I am very glad to know my work is recognised, and I am glad to know it again and again.

This could be your last post here, beware. I can be very offensive sometimes.

You know, I have read almost all 100+ of Chick's messages on this board - most are highly unuseful. Chick: I'm sure you're a great guy (woman?), no offense - but come on man, when are you going to quit? Artemio doesn't have to put up with this (though, we know you can come back as a different name every day...). Grow up a little, and if you can't do that, I'm in with Artemio: You've been pretty offensive since you've been here, and negative energy with no positive results equates to pointlessness. My two cents.

The Sample Converter: We ain't going to see that thing any time soon. And when it DOES get here, does anyone really think it'll be perfect? I hope so, something still tells me that we're going to have some conflicting applications. Praying for the best!

Regards,

Watermelon, don't get me wrong. I in no way meant to imply that being used as a debug team was a bad thing. I was really quite impressed by the fact that a majority of the original S users complaints expressed in this forum were addressed with the X although some weren't. I was REALLY impressed when Roland Ukraine bit the bullet and gave Artemiy the recognition he so richly deserves. I said it before and I say it again, my bookmark for this site is in my "family" category because I feel like many of the members here are a part of my family. If one exercises a little patience, I venture to say there is no question that can be asked that "someone" can't answer. Not limiting the questions to Roland, music, or even keyboards. The wealth of knowledge in this forum is unmatched ANYWHERE. I could start naming names but then I would forget someone and that would only serve to make me feel bad and constantly be editing the thread to amend the list of names. As for Roland and their attention to bugs and customers, I am a G800 owner and if you go to Rolandus they will not even acknowledge they ever had a G800. It is still a great keyboard, I still use it today with my S88. But rather than fix any of the minor glitches on the G800 they made the G1000. At least with the S88 they are still appending the OS. I am grateful for that. I don't regret my S88 purchase but I have as of late often regretted my unrequited dedication to ROLAND. Enough said. JMIO

Well said, Pianodick ;o) Regarding updates, just like you, I wonder why Roland is sometimes offering great support (like the VS recorder series or possibly the S-88) and sometimes less (your G800). Maybe these different products are made by different teams/departments? Maybe working on updates requires more manpower than one expects (=costs) and, if the product didn't sell well, it might be more efficient for a company to reallocate the manpower towards a new product rather than supporting the old series? I don't know, I try to give possible explanations. But, this do not excuse Roland for not fixing the glitches you talked about :op

Triton Studio and CS Translator

Post by ssante »

I thought I might take a moment to enlighten folks on my experience with Korg Triton and the promise of akai translations using promised CS Translator on that platform. I had a K2500R that I sold. I purchased a Triton Studio partly planning to convert my K2000 Sample collection to that protocol with the promised CS Translator. Well it took alot longer for it to come out than promised and it was not a freebie (you had to pay for the translator software). Then the nightmare began. I had many issues converting samples without serious bugs. I ended up doing Beta Testing for CS Translator by having to add in debug code that would create a log file of the errors and then had to sent that back to them with the samples I had tried to convert that were in the Akai format. Bottom line was that after weeks I finally had enough and decided to wait for more revs. About 3 upgrades later I tried converting my sample libraries again to no avail.

Finally I got really angered and in a fit of hysteria I hurled the CS Translator CD as hard I could watching it shatter into many varied pieces. I have never regretted that moment.

ssante:, thats about how i felt with te free version too, it crashed, and died many times, never once got it to work on 3 different machines with STANDARD wav files.....frankly, if i try , im sure ill be able to find something other than the CS POS....
this may be 1 reason that roland has not given us what was promised, and they have 1 day left, they must be trying to pull all the bugs out of that allinBETA thing they claim they will give us, give it up, even once we get it, its not going to work.....think negative..you wont be dissapointed

my train of thought always derails

I don't really have any specific need for the translator at this time. However, it sounds as though Roland made another boo-boo by teaming with CS. If it can't pass Roland's software QA standards, then Roland is doing the right thing by not putting it out. Buggy software *REALLY* pisses off the end-users.

Perhaps instead of Roland paying big-bucks to the C(hicken) S(hit) outfit, maybe they should invest in Artemio's Fantomized.info team to develop something. I know there are a few of us who know a little something about programming, and have the tools to do it. With Artemio as the leader, we could develop some pretty cool stuff that would actually work.

I am not much interested in 'Sample Conversion' feature of the software. I use AWave for that, and it works fine. What I need is a software to create multisamples from wave files, and arranging audio loops into kits, changing tempos of multimple selection.

I don't think they can get 100% conversion, you will still have to do some manual tweaking.

What should they target for is a software package that will take the raw Wave files and make multisamples in Roland format. I am wasting too much time in getting all those sample, changing the root key, changing the range, changing the tempo........ and then not been able to edit the multisample.
