Hey y'all, I'm trying to apply and autowah effect to a clav pattern that I have already recorded. That in itself is not a big problem but I am trying to apply it to pattern that I have cloned so that I can have a clean channel Clavinet and an autowah Clavinet mixed together.
As I stated earlier I just copied one of the patterns and put it into another blank pattern. I want to apply multi effect to just one of the patterns but it wants to apply it to the PART that is the Clavinet itself. I guess it's actually applying it to the sound library because it will not separate the two parts. If I apply the auto wah effect to either one and not the other it applies it to both of them. No matter what order I do that. If I applied the effect to the first part not the second they both play with the effect. If I change that order and apply it to the second and not the first they both still play with the effect on.
It seems that its either effect on or effect off if you are playing patterns referencing the same performance part. And furthermore the multi effect is being applied to the actual sound library or maybe sound generator it would seem??. Can someone correct me if my understanding is wrong? And also is there a workaround to this?
Multi-effects applied to patterns

Oh and I'm using a fantom X8

** Post re-written **
If you have both Patterns playing on the same MIDI channel or the same Part the MFX will affect all Parts on that Channel and all Patterns on that Part.
If you want only the cloned Clav to have the effect, you need to assign the MFX Clav and the dry Clav to different Parts of the Performance (or different MIDI channels).

Re: Multi-effects applied to patterns
Aww, I think I see what you were saying. What if instead I used the extract feature to clone the pattern and assign it to a new pattern #?
Re: Multi-effects applied to patterns
Nope. Just tried. Love "undo"
I really could use a workaround for this. I need to copy/clone this part because it's a complicated part that I don't think I can duplicate. It's a pattern that is incredibly difficult to find one in and it is nonrepeating throughout.
I'm requesting this not only to accomish this particular piece of music but more to attempt to understand the way this thing makes music.

Re: Multi-effects applied to patterns
Okay, I figured out. Forget about it. Andy, your information ultimately opened the door for me on that one thanks.
My fix was the little noticed (but now soon-to-be overused, I predict) feature in "track edit " called "change channel". I copied my pattern to another pattern and then switch that second patterns midi channel via the change channel feature. Now that I knew it was a matter of the midi channel I was able track that down. Again, thanks Andy.

Ah, glad you sorted it :)
