I have an interesting delimma that I could use some great insight on. I have a guitar controller that is a standard midi out to the FX6 midi in. It works great except the guitar controller only sends midi channels 1-6 (one midi channel for each string). This means that when I am sequencing a song on the FX6 sequencer I have to map a layered patch with the same patch applied to each of 6 tracks (performance). While this is do able, I would rather have the midi guitar play a single patch on all six strings on a single track.
Without a re-channelization external device is this possible?
Sometime have each string play a different channel is cool but sometimes it is not.
Make sense?
Just want to explore my options here.
I know that I can change midi channels on each track after they are recorded and then merge 6 tracks into a single track but is that really my only option.
Much thanks

FX6 and rechannlization for Midi Mode 4
Re: FX6 and rechannlization for Midi Mode 4
Hi Stephanie.
The Fantom-X recognizes OMNI ON and OMNI OFF messages but doesn't support modes other than Mode 3 and Mode 4. So it's not possible to put the Fantom-X in true OMNI mode. The only thing the Fantom-X does when it receives either an OMNI ON or OMNI OFF message is stop all notes on the channel the message was received on.
I'm guessing your guitar controller doesn't support single channel mode? I remember a few guitar controllers I saw a long time ago supported both the multi-channel and single channel mode.
But as for the Fantom-X, other than editing the tracks after recording, I don't think there's much that can be done.

Re: FX6 and rechannlization for Midi Mode 4
Hi Nathan,
Yep the particular guitar controller that I am able to currently play (very small and thin) only supports multi-channel mode and not single channel mode. I did some investigating last night using the sequencer and I would need to edit the tracks after the recording. The little controller works quite well actually. But I will need to edit tracks if I need the track space for other compositional parts. Still have the ability to play 6 midi channels at once on a guitar controller and using essentially performance mode to lay things out does add interesting possibilities.
Thanks so much for your help and insignt.
The guitar controller that I cannot currently use due to my should constraints does support multi-channel and single channel since the guitar plugs into my AXON AX100 which is capable of supporting that protocol and alot more.
