Re: what happened to the fret noises in the guitar patches?
Maybe Mr. Tibbs' X was MIDIed out to a Motif ES or a Real Guitar VSTi...
Actually, I'd think it would be in the Fantom somewhere; such sounds are on the SR-JV Session board (for XP/JV/XV synths).
Sorry that this doesn't actually answer your question.

Re: what happened to the fret noises in the guitar patches?
I think he has simply used 2 layer of patches.
The first one is the Ac. guitar sound, and the second one is the fret noise, assiged to the low range.
I don't like this kind of demonstration!

Re: what happened to the fret noises in the guitar patches?
I've found the fret noise to be built into several of the guitar patches. All of them are velocity sensitive. The harder and faster I strike the keys, the more fret noise I get back from the board.
When I set my keyboard touch to 'LIGHT', I get a ton of fret and string noise.

Re: what happened to the fret noises in the guitar patches?
^yea u get those..but not alot..im talkin about dedicated keys tho...i guess u just gotta do a keyboard split with the gm patch and use the other area of the keyboard with a patch....i still think it kinda sucks they made it seem like alot of the patches had this built in without having to split the keyboard with the fret gm patch...

Re: what happened to the fret noises in the guitar patches?
yes, the demo didnt say anything like that. you can always create your split, and then store it in a performance. right?
in case u r interested, yes, MOTIF does contain preset patches with splits but who needs it when u can do the same old stuff with splits?
and remeber that if it was dedicated patch, it would be a headache to change the release time, attack and edit stuff.
rather, it would be easier if u have it in PERF mode cos u can even assign different effects for the two.
coming to the last point, u r right.. u cant change or do anything with a patch with a logo that says ' GM '
thats too bad. but except for the electric kit in GM, i am better off with regular patches.

happy independece day.
