WANTED FIXES

Post by FireBall »

As there is someone already talking to some Roland Guys here are a few things that may not be bugs but annoy me (and many others for sure) a LOT:

1 - Patch Change: The sound should change imediately... My XP30 does it... If it´s a hardware problem they should have solved it in the designing stage but maybe there´s a turnaround for the OS like an option to disable the effects when we change a patch and re-enabling it afterwards...

2 - Pach Remain:
- There sould be an option to choose if the changes made to a patch will pass to the next patch or not. (when i was first auditioning the fantom X all the patches sounded very bad until i found that it was because i had messed with the knobs on a previous patch). I had to turn off patch remain because of this and because of point 2.
- Even with this function on when passing to the next patch there is a cut in the sound.

3 - Effects: If we can use the 3 FX units in series in Performance mode WHY can´t we do the same in Patch mode??? The hardware is there.

4 - Why can we only hold 256 Patches and 64(?) performances in a Card??? This is a "software" limitation.

5 - In track sampling - Need i say anything?

6 - Aftertouch - Not as expressive as my XP30 although the graphic shows as much "travell" or even more than the XP30 (A big difference is that on the XP30 the aftertouch only kicks in when you press the keys after play the sound that´s why it´s AFTERtouch, it starts more bellow and on the fantom sometimes just by hitting the key a little harder i activate the aftertouch)

7 - Synth sounds not as FAT as the XP30 (Ex: Patch REZODRIVE sounds very fat and is wonderful for fast playing on the xp30 and the respective patch on the fantom (on the XV5080 patches Roland gave us, thanks Roland for that!) sounds a little thiner and cannot acompain fast playing speeds (havent checked yet the Portamento settings) and there isn´t a single usable Fat synth sound on the default patches for a really fast lead, not even one. (I play Power-Metal / Hard Rock )
- Not a single usable and good-sounding Harpsichord or a clean harp that doesn´t sound like a guitar, and if this sounds exist (i have excellent ones on the XP30) they should put the best ones on the board i dont have money to spend on expansion boards when i tought i was giving 3 months of my salary to buy the top of the line Synth and best sounds!

Sorry for the long post but i do feel a little desapointed because after spending so much money on the latest Roland Synth i find that my good old synth is better than this one in many things.
Don´t get me wrong because overall the Fantom is of course very superior and the overall sound is much more clear and noise-free i just wish thése issues could be fixed so i could sell my XP30 and use only one board.

Does anybody from Roland read this forum regularly?

I'm thinking of poiting out all of the features that users have asked from the OS update in this forum and send that in one email to Roland.

Is that necessary?
