Reproducing thecool sound of the wind synth
Reproducing thecool sound of the wind synth
Hi and thanks for reading.I,m interested in the wind synth sound and i seem to only find the akai instrument when searching .Surely i could get the fantom to play this sound.Do roland in conjunction with a fantom x8 have any very similar to wind synth patches that i could get a hold of to put in my tracks and get a cool sound covering 2, 3 , 4bars in length. What would be my best bet to reproduce the wind synth sound on the x8 ? Thanks for reading.Have a nice day.
Re: Reproducing thecool sound of the wind synth
I'm not sure - you want a wind instrument-type of sound or a synth-FX one ? Please ellaborate more. Oh, and if you're reffering to an Akai model-synth (or Yamaha), I'm afraid it's a virtual modelling technology - as opposed to samples in the Fantom - so I don't know if you can achieve the same results.
P.S. You can find some free patches on the Sound Sharing Uberthread. While many of these are purely synthy in nature you can find wind instruments too. I think I posted at least one myself (you have to check thoroughly, I cannot remember which one is which).

Re: Reproducing thecool sound of the wind synth
it seems i,m refering to the wind controller which is an instrument that relays a midi signal. But rather than purchase a wind controller are there patches or samples of these sounds compatible with the x8.I know there are some wind instrument sounds in the fantoms but i,m seeking more in the electronic variety.
Re: Reproducing thecool sound of the wind synth
The wind controller in itself does very little towards your sound
It must be linked to a sound module (Akai, Yamaha or whatever) in order to operate. Moreover, your Fantom has no breath controller input to convert such data into midi notes. So in your case such a wind controller would be useless without its dedicated sound module. (while getting only the sound module would reap more benefits, since you can use various fantom controllers - D-beam amongst others - to control it). To cut a long story short, you need the module not the controller.
If you want to rely only on Fantom X sounds, there's little developement in the latest years (other than the SRX cards) in creating patches which would be both synth and wind(y) in character. There are either people who want a blunt electronic effect and rely on all sorts of square/saw/pulse/triangle/insert your favourite syn wave here... or people who strive for natural perfection and try to eliminate all synth idiosyncrasies from their sound. Yet again, you might be lucky if you try this particular patch (Softsyn Wave) from the heap (you're right, I'm exaggerating
) I've already posted in the thread named "Sound Sharing Uberthread". There might be more of them from various other users, even better than mine but I don't remember at the moment. Or you can open your pocket and pay a little (to Artemiy for his megapack) or a lot (to Roland for SRX cards). Your choice.
