How to make a FAST hi-hat

Post by menappi »

I'm wondering how I can get a really fast hi hat, a sound that is prevalent in a lot of southern hip hop. Something similar to pressing the 'roll' button on the pads and just holding a pad down..but I'd like to be able to control it. I can't press the keys fast enough with quantize on to do that and i've seen it done in some videos so could anyone help me?

Could you not assign RPS to a Pad or another key? A straight hat roll on 16th/32nd should do the trick.

Excellent and you've still got time to learn new things(before the test).

RPS is short for Realtime Phrase Sequence. (pg 203)

You should be able to record a roll, assign it to a key or pad, make it loop, or not, and your bounce will be on the way.

if you don't wanna get into technical stuff and wanna do it on the keyboard i have a solution:

slow down the tempo, record it...then speed it back up
