Drum Pad Volume Bypasses Volume Knob...

Post by psalms34n1 »

Hello,

I recently noticed after completing the 2.0 audio expansion upgrade on my FX7, when the main volume is turned all the way down and I'm in patch mode the active patch will not sound but the drum pads will. This is happening out of the L/Mono out. The main volume knob is only controlling the keyboard patch volume and not the drum pad volume. Is this a feature and if so, how do I turn this feature off?

Don't know if you have solved this yet, but I don't think this is any kind of feature. Couldn't find a way to make my X8 behave that way. Bought my Fantom with the 2.0 upgrade, so never did it myself.

Hi Palms34n1,

Are you saying that even with the volume knob turned down, and only using the A output (L/MONO), you still hear the Part10 ??? that's strange...

I don't own a X6/7, and so maybe I'm not "seeing" the problem correctly, but on my Xa (that is essencially a Fantom X without the bells and whistles), that is a normal behaviour if I have for Part 10, the output routing set to he B bus.
In this case, the output volume is not controlled by the volume knob, but you wont hear anything unless the B outs are connected to you sound system...of course.

Anyway, check the output routing for part 10, and the way the Outputs A and B are set: Parallel or Mix (in Main Menu/General/Sound)

I hope this helps...

Cheers

Idiot me found the problem. I finally realized that this issue only occurred at church - when I was midi'd into two other keyboards. When playing the pads, it was transmitting on channel 10 and one of the keyboards (XP-30) I forgot to mute the drums on channel 10 in the performance.
