Fantom X / FL STUDIO video Tutorial

I made a video tutorial on how to trigger fantom sounds using MIDI in FL studio a while back for everyone who kept blowiing up my YouTube channel asking me how. If any of you are interested then please feel free to check it out.

I am in the process of making a "recording audio from the fantom x into FL STUDIO" tutorial which will cover recording strait from the Fantom and recording the MIDI data to Audio.

watup...first of all i need some direction in this technical setup...i setup the way the video says.etc..put the port to 1 .when I open a midi out, an set the port number to 1, i hit the keys an my cpu loads and becomes super slow...wheres the port number on the fantomx that coincides with the fl's port number, is it the device ID or pcc number?...

You have to create a MIDI OUT track and set that to the port. The fantom's port number is set up in the MIDI OPTIONS in FL STUDIO. In the OUTPUT there is a "PORT" area with a drop down to select the port number for the Fantom. You set that.. then when you make your MIDI OUT.. set that port number to the same thing so your fantom and the program can communicate with eachother.

I've been working on this and I think I'm almost there.

I followed your tutorial and I finally have everything working- meaning the midi out track in FL is triggering the sounds/patch on the Fantom.

To make this happen I also had to go to the MIDI screen on the Roland and set the "Kbd Patch RX/TX Channel" to the Channel shown on the MIDI out in Fruity loops - This means if the midi out in FL says channel 1, I changed the Kbd PATCH RX/TX channel on the roland to channel 1 also.

I also adjusted the MIDI screen in Roland - "Soft Through" is set to off. When it was on there was a bunch of feedback. Turning it off solved the problem.

My question is how can you work with more than one sound on the fantom if the channels always have to be matched up?
