Hello all
your comments made me decide in favor of SRX06 and SRX09 (complete orchestra and world). They sound fantastic!
The problem I have is that for SRX06 all the patch names are displayed in the right category (in the editor), but not those for the SRX09.
In my Fantom XR, the former is in the slot "A", the latter in the slot "B". I unmounted and re-mounted again the board but without any result and I hesitate to do this several times.
Version is 2.02.
Can anybody tell me whether this is normal? Should I try again in other slots? Would a factory reset provide some help?
In this case, should I perform it with the boards installed or not?
Your experience would be precious for me: I scanned this site and didn't find anything.
Thank you very much for your help,
Gabriel
Help expansion board patch names not displayed
Re: Help expansion board patch names not displayed
You mean, you get the patches which sound properly but the patch names are empty? Or...?
Thank you
.. Artemiy for replying so quickly
The sounds can be selected, but in the "Category" menu you see "-----" like for the unused samples, for instance.
In order to check the sounds, I used the paper user guide for the board, checked for a category, found the number, and "blindly" selected this number.
When I looked in the "uncategorized" menu, I found the names, but with the wrong numbers, so that the paper solution is the ony one for me at this time.
For the other board, everything is OK.
Now I think: is that possible to expand a category with a patch created from scratch? In this case, I should perhaps try to add the category by hand?
I'm a little bit lost, it is very frustrating to have instruments sorted by categories and not being able to select them from the editor...(windows XP sp2)
Any advise would be welcome.
Both expansion boards were bought new, in a music store.
Thank you very much,
Gabriel

Re: Help expansion board patch names not displayed
Hi Gabriel!
Sorry for the stupid question but, aside from the Editor software, are the names being properly displayed on your 'XR'? It is unclear to me.

Re: Help expansion board patch names not displayed
Did you by chance use the editor first with one card installed and then add the second card ? I think this may be the solution ( be sure to save a copy of the old file somewhere outside of the folder its in just in case )......
1. Delete the file named
Program Files\Roland\Fantom-Editor\Script\PresetNameXR2.txt.
2. Restart Fantom-X Editor.
When you restart the program the script file should be rewritten automaticaly. Best of luck

Great people, great ideas ..
Thank you very much guys, as soon as I get near my Fantom I'll try both things. You gave me hope.
I mounted both expansions at the same time ... but it might be precisely for this reason: it might know how to insert a new one only "one at a time"
thanks a lot, Ill keep you informed or bothered .. as you understand it.
Thanks a lot

Found the solution
hello everyone and thanks for the help.
The solution came from your comments:
I looked into the directory and I found the .txt file and the xml script file. It is the XML file that handles the names for the patches, rhythm sets and waveforms for the expansion cards.
Despite being read-only, the XML file was broken.
-I downloaded fro Roland the most recent editor version.
-I installed it on another computer (the Internet one).
-I replaced the *.exe and the *.xml files on the "Fantom" computer, and it worked.
First, I tried to copy only the .xml file, but it wasn't compatible with my older editor version.
One remark: the .txt file contains only the "original" names, it is not updated with the expansion card's names.
I hope this would help some other in the same situation.
Once again, thanks for your suggestions to everybody!
