Van Halen Sounds

Post by Squints2See »

Hello all..

I would like to see if anyone has any Van Halen patches for the fantom x. I've tried playing with the brass patches already provided but I want a closer match. Specifically for the songs, Dreams, When It's Love, Love Walk's In, and of course Jump.

I dont have the know how or the time to create that although I know that the Fantom is capable of that. I would be willing to throw a few bucks somebody's way if they could hook me up.

Thanks...

I would think that PR-C:031 WideSynBrss might be good choice for Jump. You may need to tweak it just a bit. I would think that you'll need to set up a performance for Dreams. A combo of a piano patch along with some sort and a brass-string-saw type patch. I'll play with it over the next few days and see what I can come up with for you on those songs.

I use WideSynBrass on my Juno-G and add a little delay to make it sound like the recording. For Love Walks In, I made a performance with BrightPiano and a slightly edited WideSynBrass that has a longer release.

I also use the edited WideSynBrass for Journey's Separate Ways.

The Juno-G actually has a patch called Jump. I would have thought this would have been on the Fantom x too?

Jump is a saw and I think Wide Syn Brass is the saw wav I've used. I can't remember the number. 031 or 039 off the top of my head. I have used it live. You can always add another saw or brass to fatten it even more if you want.

Don't play the others srry.

I made a Performance called "JUMP", based on the following patches:
- PR-C:031 WideSynBrss
- USER: xxx Jump for KY1 (tweaked by me), that I got originally from a Library that I can't recall now...

However (there's a much better approach...)
There is a patch called Jump 1984 on the XT that is just like the original Van Halen sound !!!, but unfortunately, that's for the V-Synth thread... ;-)

Take care

Hear is an SVQ of V/H Dreams. I've combined 4 patches in a performance to achieve the sound & have started a rythm track for you to practice with as well. The track will give you "3 for nothing" before the lead in for keys on the fourth beat. Let me know what you think.
